The accursed sceptre is an upgraded variant of Thammaron's sceptre, requiring level 70 in Magic to wield. It is created by combining Thammaron's sceptre with the Skull of Vet'ion. This process requires level 85 Crafting; players without the required level to combine the items may ask Phabelle Bile in Ferox Enclave to do so instead, for a fee of 500,000 coins. The item counts as a Zamorakian item in the God Wars Dungeon.
The sceptre is identical in function to Thammaron's sceptre, but with increased stats and a special attack.
The sceptre also has a "Swap" option that allows players to switch it to an accursed sceptre (a), which is a variant that can autocast offensive combat spells from the standard spellbook (including Flames of Zamorak) and the Ancient Magicks.

Passive effect[edit | edit source]
When the accursed sceptre is charged with revenant ether, an additional 50% magic accuracy and damage boost is applied when attacking any NPC in the Wilderness, consuming 1 ether per attack whether the player hits or not. It is also applied to any combat spells cast when it is equipped, though it cannot autocast them in powered staff mode.
This effect will stack with a Slayer helmet (i) or a Salve amulet(i) and their variants, but not both simultaneously. This makes the sceptre the best magic weapon in the Wilderness, surpassing the damage output of a trident of the seas or swamp with the additional capability of attacking any hostile players, something which both tridents are incapable of doing.
Special attack[edit | edit source]
The accursed sceptre has a special attack, Condemn, which consumes 50% of the player's special attack energy and 1 revenant ether (whether it hits or not). The special attack hits an enemy with a 50% increase to max hit and accuracy, and upon a successful hit, also drains the target's Defence and Magic by 15%, regardless of the damage inflicted.[1]
However, if the target's levels are already deboosted by some amount, Condemn will only drain them up to 15%, but no further. As a result, multiple special attacks do not stack. For example, a target with level 80 Defence and Magic cannot have their stats drained lower than 68 if using Condemn.

Charging and death[edit | edit source]
In order to use the sceptre's passive effect, it must first be activated with 1,000 revenant ether (costing 174,000 coins). The 1,000 ether used to activate the sceptre does not count towards the usage of the passive effect, thus additional ether must be added (up to 16,000) in order to increase the sceptre's damage output. The hourly cost of constantly using this weapon to cast spells is 1,200 ether or 208,800 coins, as spells can only be cast every 4 game ticks.
The ether can be safely removed by selecting the right-click Uncharge option on the sceptre, after which the sceptre becomes tradeable again.
Upon death within the Wilderness, any revenant ether stored within the sceptre will always be dropped, even if it is one of the player's protected items. Because of this, despite the sceptre being able to store a maximum of 17,000 revenant ether, it is recommended to store the minimum amount required for a trip into the Wilderness (in addition to the 1,000 ether required to activate the weapon).
Maximum hit[edit | edit source]
The maximum hit dealt by the sceptre is dependent on the player's current Magic level. The formula is as follows:
The base maximum hit dealt by the sceptre is dependent on the player's current Magic level, starting at 17 with level 70 Magic, increasing by one at 72 and every three Magic levels thereafter, up to a maximum of 35 at level 123 (obtainable only through smelling salts in Tombs of Amascut). Both magic damage bonuses and stat boosts will modify the max hit of the spell; likewise, stat-reductions will lower the damage. At 0 magic, the sceptre has a maximum hit of 0.

When on a Slayer task and using the Slayer helmet (i), the maximum hit is increased by a further 15%. This bonus stacks multiplicatively on top of the other magic bonuses above, but it does not stack with a Salve amulet(ei).
