Animal skull is a quest item, used in The Dig Site. One of the students has lost it and will help the player only if they find it for him. It is found by pickpocketing Digsite workers. After the quest, the item has no use.

Should the player wish to keep a copy as a souvenir, they can simply bank the first one and pickpocket another.

• The Animal skull replaced a previous item called Rock sample 1.
