Ava's assembler is the upgraded version of Ava's accumulator that requires level 70 Ranged to equip. It provides the best in slot ranged attack bonus for the cape slot, and is the only cape slot item that provides a Ranged Strength bonus. Like all of Ava's devices, the assembler won't work when metal torso armour is worn, as this will cause 'interference'.
To obtain the assembler, players must take Ava's accumulator (or 4,999 coins), Vorkath's head (which can only be obtained by killing Vorkath after completion of Dragon Slayer II) and 75 mithril arrows to Ava in Draynor Manor.
Similar to its predecessors, it can randomly gather mithril ranged equipment. It also has an 80% chance of saving ammunition compared to the accumulator's 72%. As the remaining 20% chance is for the ammunition breaking, the assembler will never drop any ammo on the ground.
Ammo recovery rate[edit | edit source]
The breakdown of the ammo recovery rate is as listed:
- Break on impact: 20%
- Recovered automatically: 80%
Cost saving benefits[edit | edit source]
There is a 20% chance per ranged attack for ammunition to break and be lost. This means each piece of ammo can be used, on average, 5 times before breaking. Normally, the remaining ammo is dropped to the ground and must be retrieved to achieve this. Ava's devices reduce the amount of effort needed by returning some ammo automatically to you.
Since Ava's Assembler returns all unbroken ammo automatically, it effectively makes each piece of ammo last for 5 attacks with no extra effort. In comparison, Ava's Accumulator only retains ammo 72% of the time; without retrieving dropped ammo, each piece of ammo lasts an average of ~3.57 shots. Thus, assuming dropped ammo is not picked up, Ava's Assembler reduces the cost of ammunition by about 40% compared to the Accumulator.
Death and upgrading[edit | edit source]
If the player dies below level 20 Wilderness, it will remain in their inventory. However, the item will become unusable and must be repaired with 75,000 coins by using the item on Perdu. Alternatively, a Trouver parchment and a payment of 500,000 coins can be given to Perdu in order to lock it (after which it gains the (l) suffix); this allows the item to be kept on death, unbroken, past level 20 Wilderness. If the player dies to another player above level 20 Wilderness and the item is not locked or protected, it is converted to 6,120 coins.
The Ava's assembler can be combined with the max cape to change its appearance by turning it into the assembler max cape. Turning the Ava's assembler into an assembler max cape is the only way for ultimate ironmen to store one, as it counts as a max cape on the cape rack.
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- The "commune" dialogue speaks of the undead chicken, despite having Vorkath's head in the device.
