A bird snare is a type of trap used in the Hunter skill. The bird snaring technique is used to catch several birds. With the required Hunter level, the player may set up a bird snare and wait for a bird to approach the trap.
If the prey is successfully caught, the snare will trap the bird, and the player will have the option to "check" the trap. If not successful, the trap will still snap, and the player will have to reset it. A bird snare will not catch birds if the user is standing directly on the bird snare.
Smoking a trap will increase the catch rate by +2%. Due to the low increase of the catch rate, most players believe that smoking traps doesn't justify the extra actions it takes.
Bird snares may be bought from Aleck Aleck's Hunter Emporium. in Yanille or the Nardah Hunter Shop in Nardah. One can also be obtained for free by searching the south-western crate in Hugor's house at Land's End.
