The Blade of Saeldor is a magical sword that once belonged to Saeldor, an elite elven warrior, that can be obtained as a rare drop from The Gauntlet. Requiring level 75 Attack to wield, it provides the highest strength and slash bonus out of any weapon for its attack speed, surpassing the abyssal tentacle as the best slash weapon. It is tied for the strongest one-handed melee weapon in the game with the Ghrazi rapier and the Inquisitor's mace.

When obtained, the blade is inactive and must be charged with crystal shards in order for it to gain its stat bonuses, with each shard granting 100 charges, up to a maximum of 20,000. During combat, one charge is depleted for each hit, whether it is a successful one or not; wearing an elven signet will not provide the chance to not consume charges. Using the shard value of making divine super combat potions, the cost per charge is 124.65. Using the shard cost of trading in Enhanced Crystal Teleport Seeds to Amrod, the most efficient option for buying crystal shards directly, the cost per charge is 159.9. As a comparison, the abyssal tentacle costs 290.36 per charge.
If the player dies in PvP, the broken blade is dropped, and all shards used to charge it will be lost. In PvM on the other hand, all current charges will be kept upon death.
The blade can be upgraded by corrupting it, which requires bringing the blade and 1,000 crystal shards to a singing bowl. Doing so requires level 82 Smithing and Crafting (the levels can be boosted), and grants no experience. If the player does not meet the Smithing and Crafting requirements, they can have Conwenna or Reese sing the crystal for them for an extra 500 crystal shards. Excess charges in the blade will be taken into account; for example, a fully charged blade will only cost 800 crystal shards to corrupt. The corrupted blade stays charged permanently, and does not consume any crystal shards. The infinite version is untradeable.

22 August 2019 (update | poll)
|
The number of charges the Blade of Saeldor receives per crystal shard has been increased from 25 to 100, and the maximum charges possible has been increased from 2,500 to 20,000.

- In J.R.R. Tolkien's constructed elvish language, Sindarin, Saeldor means "wise brother".
- In the Song of the Elves rewards poll, the Blade of Saeldor was proposed to have a special attack called Saeldor's Strike, which consumes 100% of the player's special attack energy and deals 50% additional damage, as well as knockback and stun the target like the dragon spear's special attack does. It only received 70.5% votes in favour, 4.5% short of passing the poll.
