The Blade of Saeldor is a magical sword that once belonged to Saeldor, an elite elven warrior, that can be created from an enhanced crystal weapon seed. Requiring level 75 Attack to wield, it provides the highest strength and slash bonus out of any weapon for its attack speed, surpassing the abyssal tentacle as the best slash weapon. It is tied for the strongest one-handed melee weapon in the game with the Ghrazi rapier and the Inquisitor's mace.
Players can create the Blade of Saeldor via a singing bowl by combining 100 crystal shards and an enhanced crystal weapon seed. Doing so requires level 82 Smithing and Crafting to sing the crystal (the levels can be boosted), and grants 5,000 experience in both skills. If the player does not meet the Smithing and Crafting requirements, they can have Conwenna or Reese sing the crystal for them for an extra 50 crystal shards, for a total of 150.

Degradation[edit | edit source]
When created, the blade starts off at 10,000 charges and degrades like all crystal equipment, with one charge being depleted for each hit, whether it is a successful one or not; once the blade's charges have been fully depleted, it will become inactive and lose its stat bonuses until more charges are added to it. Wearing an elven signet will not provide the chance to not consume charges.
In order to add charges to the blade, crystal shards must be used on it (this can be done before it is inactive as well), with each shard granting 100 charges, up to a maximum of 20,000. Unlike other crystal equipment, players cannot directly revert the blade to an enhanced crystal weapon seed. In order to receive the seed back, players must bring an inactive blade to a singing bowl to revert it, costing 250 crystal shards. This is not recommended, as players can just sell the inactive blade on the Grand Exchange.
Using the shard value of making divine super combat potions, the cost per charge is 102.4. Using the shard cost of trading in enhanced crystal teleport seeds to Amrod, the most efficient option for buying crystal shards directly, the cost per charge is 209.98. As a comparison, the abyssal tentacle costs 193.98 per charge.
Upgrading[edit | edit source]
The blade can be upgraded by corrupting it, which requires bringing the blade and 1,000 crystal shards to a singing bowl. Doing so requires level 82 Smithing and Crafting (the levels can be boosted), and grants no experience. If the player does not meet the Smithing and Crafting requirements, they can have Conwenna or Reese sing the crystal for them for an extra 500 crystal shards. Excess charges in the blade will be taken into account; for example, a fully charged blade will only cost 800 crystal shards to corrupt. The corrupted blade stays charged permanently, and does not consume any crystal shards. While the infinite version is untradeable, it can be reverted to an uncharged state at any time, but the shards used will be permanently lost in doing so.

Trivia[edit | edit source]
- In J.R.R. Tolkien's constructed elvish language, Sindarin, Saeldor means "wise brother".
- In the Song of the Elves rewards poll, the Blade of Saeldor was proposed to have a special attack called Saeldor's Strike, which consumes 100% of the player's special attack energy and deals 50% additional damage, as well as knockback and stun the target like the dragon spear's special attack does. It only received 70.5% votes in favour, 4.5% short of passing the poll.
