Blood essence is an item dropped by certain NPCs in the Ancient Prison, a possible reward from the Tombs of Amascut, and as well as a potential reward when opening an intricate pouch. When one is activated, it becomes untradeable and will give a 50% chance to craft an extra blood rune per pure essence, guardian essence or dark essence fragment for no additional experience. Each blood essence can craft an extra 1,000 blood runes before being destroyed. The active blood essence needs to be in your inventory. Blood essence works in Guardians of the Rift and the additional blood runes crafted will provide catalytic guardian stones. However, blood essence does not provide benefit nor consume charges at the Ourania Altar.
As a blood rune costs 200 coins each, each essence would add an additional 200,000 coins in total. Factoring in the cost of each essence, one can expect to earn 140,180 coins for every blood essence used.
