Brine sabre detail.png

The brine sabre is a one-handed weapon that requires 40 Attack to wield. It is dropped by brine rats in the small cave accessed during Olaf's Quest. The brine sabre is a slightly better alternative to a rune scimitar, boasting 2 higher strength and slash attack bonuses when compared to the former. However, it is significantly more expensive due to the fact it is only dropped by the rarely-killed brine rat at a rate of 1/512.

Brine sabres can finish off rockslugs without the use of a bag of salt. It is also one of the only weapons that can be used to kill lobstrosities.

It is required for a master clue scroll.

Training[edit | edit source]

The brine sabre is the best-in-slot training weapon for level 40 Attack pures who train on members servers. It was also previously the best-in-slot training weapon for granite maul pures who lacked 55 Slayer (in which the leaf-bladed sword was better as it provided +20 higher offensive and +3 Strength bonuses), however it has since been superseded with the release of the granite hammer, which provides +10 higher offensive and Strength bonuses.

Special attack[edit | edit source]

The brine sabre has a special attack, Liquefy, which doubles the player's accuracy, and increases the player's Strength, Attack and Defence levels by 25% of the damage dealt.

The special attack only works underwater, and consumes 75% of the player's special attack energy.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • On release, the brine sabre did not mitigate the need to use a bag of salt to finish off a rockslug. This was added in an update on 28 July 2016.
