A bullseye lantern is a light source used to illuminate dark areas with the highest brightness value of three. Lighting it with a tinderbox requires 49 Firemaking. Creating one from scratch requires 49 Smithing to make the bullseye lantern (unf) and 49 Crafting to make the lantern lens. Adding a lens to the unfinished bullseye lantern makes a bullseye lantern (empty) which must be filled up with lamp oil by distilling swamp tar in a lamp oil still at the Chemist's house in Rimmington or at Miltog's Lamps in Dorgesh-Kaan.
Bullseye lanterns do not ignite swamp gas in the Lumbridge Swamp Caves and they will not extinguish when falling into water except in the Abandoned Mine. In the Sophanem Dungeon, the Scarab mage has a rare attack that magically extinguishes light sources including bullseye lanterns. Activating the scarab trap in the Sophanem Dungeon and falling into the trap extinguishes all light sources as well.
