Chaos Elemental/Strategies

Chaos Elemental's location.

If going with a team, or fighting without the safespot, it's highly recommended for the player to take high-healing food, such as curry or pies, that don't leave any empty inventory spaces. One of its attacks will unequip items that players are wielding, forcing them to take time to re-equip their armour and weapons before continuing the battle. As there's a strong chance to encounter player killers, it would be in the player's best interest to stick to low-cost anti-magic gear like dragonhide armour with a good helmet.

If you wish to use regular food, a good item to bring to fill your inventory with junk is sacks of potatoes or cabbage. Whenever you eat a food, take out one of those and put them back at the end of the trip.

Dealing with player killers[edit | edit source]

Player killers may frequent the area where the Chaos Elemental can be fought, on their own or in teams. A good way of dealing with player killers is to stick to the western wall of the Rogues' Castle, whether you are flinching or not. Another way to prepare yourself for player killers is to fight the Chaos Elemental within the walls of the Rogues' Castle, so you can easily run inside the castle to log out. A third way to stay safe would be to stay as far away from the castle as possible, so player killers hopping to find players inside the castle may not see you. Keep in mind, however, that the attacks of the Chaos Elemental are rendered for other players, even if you and the Chaos Elemental are well outside of their sight. They may still be able to spot the fight. Player killers often use low level scouts, but even when they don't, they usually hop worlds to look for players while standing in the small shed that is attached to the western wall of the keep, because the NPCs here are not aggressive, and they may reduce the chance of being targeted themselves by even larger teams. Whenever you spot a player killer or scout, run up north of the castle wall. It is possible to run around this wall to the obelisk, but if you fear the player killer will meet you there, simply hide behind the dead tree or skeleton and try to hop worlds or log out as soon as you can. If the player killer manages to catch up with you, there are at least three possible ways to escape: Firstly, identify whether the player killer is using teleblock or not. If they are not, simply try to outlast their attacks and run to the obelisk to teleport to safety. If the player killer does manage to teleblock you, try running inside the castle, and close the doors behind you, while making your way to the stairs. By the stairs, climb up and down the stairs in a random pattern to confuse the player killer, until you see a window of opportunity to either log out or run back out of the castle. If timed correctly, you can easily shake the player killer from you and log out, also removing the teleblock spell. IF a team is attacking you, and you are being frozen and teleblocked at the same time, try using the same technique, as long as you have enough supplies to keep your protection prayer up. If you are at risk of losing a fourth valuable item, always prioritise protecting your item over staying alive. If you have a lot of food left, but little prayer points, consider just accepting your fate and let the player killers have their kill. If you run out of prayer before you run out of food, there is little you can do to save your fourth item.

Solo[edit | edit source]

The dead trees at the south-west tip of Rogues' Castle can be used to flinch.

The safest method for soloing it would be taking advantage of the hit-and-hide tactic (also referred to as flinching or hit-and-run) with the usage of nearby trees. This can be done by attracting the Chaos Elemental's attention, and then immediately running behind a tree so it can't attack you. Wait for its Hitpoint bar to disappear, hit it once, and run back behind the tree. Repeat until the elemental is dead. This method can be done with any Melee weapon. A full set of Verac's equipment is recommended for fast kills, but you WILL risk the Verac's helm if you get smited by a PK team.

If not using the hit-and-hide tactic, using a Karil's leathertop, Verac's helm and plateskirt with a Crystal shield or Dragonfire shield and a Rune crossbow or Armadyl crossbow with Ruby bolts (e) makes this boss very easy to kill, even at sub-100 Combat levels, but beware of the risk. As there's a strong chance to encounter player killers, it would be better to stick to lower-cost gear to alleviate the risk.

A group of players take on the Chaos Elemental.

Team[edit | edit source]

Players fighting with Melee should take armour with high Ranged and Melee Defence, such as Dragon or Barrows equipment, and use Protect from Magic. As there's a strong chance to encounter player killers, it would be better to stick to lower-cost gear to alleviate the risk.

Suggested skills[edit | edit source]

  • Attack 80+
  • Strength 80+
  • Defence 70+
  • Ranged 75+
  • Prayer 37+ (70 Recommended)

Equipment[edit | edit source]

Activate Protect from Magic and Protect Item if high risk, or just use the safespot. Don't linger in the same world for too long as there's a high chance to encounter player killers.

  1. Craw's bow is very slightly better in performance compared to the twisted bow, but due to it consuming ether, it is significantly more expensive and risky to use. However, it is also significantly cheaper to obtain than the twisted bow.
