Chaos gauntlets detail.png

Chaos gauntlets are a pair of gloves available after completing the Family Crest quest. The gauntlets, when worn, increase the maximum damage done by all bolt spells by 3, thus making the max hit of a specific bolt spell only 1 behind the blast spells of the same element. There are no requirements to wear these gloves.

These gloves can first be obtained by bringing steel gauntlets to Johnathon, one of the sons in the Family Crest quest. Johnathon is located upstairs in the Jolly Boar Inn, which is north-east of Varrock. If you bring the steel gauntlets to Johnathon (and they have already been imbued with another power) you must bring 25,000 coins to change them.

Prior to completing the Family Pest miniquest, if lost, they are re-obtained free of charge from Dimintheis. After completion of the mini-quest, they can be claimed from Johnathon for free at any time and without the need for steel gauntlets; and all forms of the Family Crest gauntlets can be owned simultaneously. They can also be claimed in free-to-play worlds but cannot be equipped in free-to-play.

Upon paying Johnathon to change your gauntlets, the following message appears: Johnathon takes your gauntlets from you, and begins a low chant over them. You see them glow and sparkle, before he returns them to you.
