The collection log is a book that players can receive from The Collector near the stairs in the Varrock Museum's ground floor^[UK]1^st floor^[US]. It records nearly every unique drop the player has obtained from various content in Old School RuneScape. The player does not need to have claimed a collection log for it to start tracking drops.

Drops obtained prior to its release are not recorded for any player, excluding untradeable items (such as pets) provided that they can be tracked by the game; for example, long bones the player had traded to Barlak or buried before the log's release were not added to it, but any long bones in the player's possession were added.

Each entry in the log is tracked by the item itself, not where it was obtained. For example, obtaining a dragon pickaxe from the Chaos Elemental will also log it under other bosses that drop it, such as Callisto and the King Black Dragon.

There is a cap on the amount each item can be tracked, depending on the item in question. For example, Zulrah's scales will only be tracked up to 65,535 and bracelets of ethereum up to 250.

It can be stored in a bookcase within a player-owned house, and can also be accessed from the adventurer's log within a player's Achievement Gallery and the Character Summary interface.

There are currently a total of 1,602 slots to fill in the collection log, with a total of 1,477 unique entries being tracked. Pets, gilded equipment, and 3rd age equipment account for 124 of the 159 slots containing duplicate items.

Volcanic Mine rewards have been added. Third age and gilded items can now be found in the "Rares" tabs for each clue scroll. A Brimhaven Agility section has been added to the minigames tab. • "droprate" is a reference to a meme within the community that implies all drop rates in-game are actually 50:50, as you either get the drop or don't get the drop.
• "elf ears" is likely a reference to a request to add pointy ears (like those seen on elves) as a reward for completing Song of the Elves.
• Despite Jad slippers being added to the game as a reward from the 2023 Birthday event, the search text has not been updated to indicate so.
• "monkfish" is a reference to a common misconception that monkfish are fictitious creatures made up specifically for RuneScape. In reality, monkfish are part of the genus lophius, and are a species of anglerfish.
• "you not lucky" is a reference to the line said by TzHaar-Mej-Jal when unsuccessfully gambling a fire cape for the chance of obtaining the Tzrek-jad pet.
• As the complete collection log message implies ("Wait, you're not actually supposed to complete the log."), it is generally agreed to be virtually impossible for any one player to complete the entire collection log in a single lifetime. Nobody is known to have done so and given the extremely low drop rates of certain items (e.g. 3rd age equipment) it is unlikely the feat will ever be accomplished.
