Cooking gauntlets detail.png

Cooking gauntlets are a pair of gloves available after completing the Family Crest quest, along with the goldsmith and chaos gauntlets. They can be worn to significantly decrease the likelihood of burning lobsters, swordfish, monkfish, sharks and anglerfish when cooking them. They do not work on other types of food.[1]

In order to obtain this enchantment on your Family Crest gauntlets, one must bring the steel gauntlets that were rewarded from the quest to Caleb in or around the house north of the archery shop in Catherby. (Note: if your gauntlets have a different enchantment on them already, Caleb will charge you 25,000 coins). If the gauntlets are destroyed or lost due to death, these gauntlets may be re-obtained free of charge from Dimintheis in south-east Varrock and will have the same enchantment on them.

The text that appears when you give your gauntlets to Caleb is: "Caleb takes the gauntlets from you, pours some herbs and seasonings on them, bakes them on his range for a short period of time, and then hands them back to you."

The gauntlets cannot be taken to Entrana.

After the miniquest Family Pest has been completed, the player can claim the cooking gauntlets from Caleb at any time. They will not be charged 25,000 coins for additional pairs, and may own multiple forms of the Family Crest gauntlets simultaneously.

Burn Level[edit | edit source]

When players have reached level 99 in Cooking, they can buy a Cooking cape, which will allow the player to never burn food again whilst equipped, thus allowing the player to stop wearing the cooking gauntlets. In addition, the Cooking cape works on all foods, whereas the gauntlets only work on the following five fish:

  • The Cooking gauntlets is the item Falo requires players to show him when he sings about: These gloves of white won't help you fight, but aid in cooking, they just might.
