The crystal halberd was a degradable two-handed weapon made from elven crystal. It required completion of the Hard Western Provinces Diary to wield, as well as 70 Attack, 35 Strength and 50 Agility.

These crystal halberds functioned differently to the present day Crystal halberd. They would degrade over time with use, and their stats would gradually decrease as the halberd degraded.

With the release of Song of the Elves, all existing Crystal halberds reverted into Crystal weapon seeds. As a result, these items are currently unobtainable; however, they remain in the game files.

Degrading[edit | edit source]

The crystal halberd degraded over time. After 250 hits, it degraded into a "Crystal halberd 9/10", and thereafter for every 250 hits, it would degrade another 1/10th, until it reverted into a crystal seed after a total of 2,500 hits, and had to be recharged before it could be used again. If the special attack was used and it hit an opponent twice or multiple opponents, it would be considered one hit in regards to degradation. As the halberd degraded, the negative Magic attack bonus remained the same while the positive attack bonuses decreased as shown below.

The crystal halberd could be imbued for 2,000 Nightmare Zone points per charge to create a crystal halberd (i), requiring 20,000 points to imbue a fully charged halberd. Imbuing the crystal halberd did not keep it from degrading, however its stats would remain at their maximum, regardless of how much it had degraded. When the halberd reverted back to a crystal seed, it would lose its imbue, and players had to imbue it again using points from the Nightmare Zone. Additionally, imbuing a crystal halberd that had already degraded to 9/10 or below would restore the halberd's stats to their maximum.

Recharging[edit | edit source]

Ilfeen recharged crystal seeds into crystal bows, crystal shields or crystal halberds. Initially, Ilfeen charged 750,000 coins to re-enchant a crystal seed into a crystal halberd. However, the price decreased by 150,000 coins each time Ilfeen re-enchanted a seed for a player, in the following manner, until reaching the minimum recharge cost of 150,000 coins:

The amount that Ilfeen charges is dependent on the number of crystal seeds she has re-enchanted, not the number of crystal halberds she has recharged. For example, a player who pays Ilfeen 900,000 coins to re-enchant a crystal seed into a crystal bow will only have to pay her 600,000 coins to recharge a seed into a crystal halberd.

Hotfix

The crystal halberd special attack was limited to three targets in PVP, to prevent unintentionally high experience rates.[1]

The crystal halberd's special attack used to only hit the main target on the central tile, but hit an unlimited amount of monsters on the two adjacent tiles. Now, it caps the maximum number of monsters to 10, but allows monsters standing on the same tile as the primary target to also be affected by the attack.
