The dark altar can be built in the altar space of the achievement gallery in a player-owned house. It requires 80 Construction to build and when built, it gives 3,888 experience. The player must have a hammer and a saw in their inventory to build it.

Players can switch their spellbook to the Arceuus spellbook. Other players can use the altar, provided they at least have 60% Arceuus favour.

The lowest level at which the altar can be built is 75 Construction, using the +5 boost from a spicy stew. The crystal saw cannot be used to lower this requirement, as the achievement gallery room requires 80 Construction and is unaffected by the saw. However, the crystal saw can be used when upgrading the altar into an occult altar.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • The book on the altar contains Morse code, which can be translated as "darkaess[sic] corrupts".
    • This misspelling may be an intentional reference to Arceuus, as it is pronounced in a similar fashion — (dar-KAY-us).
    • The "A" (▄ ▄▄▄) may simply be a mirrored misspelling of "N" (▄▄▄ ▄).
