They are among the strongest boots defensively. They are only surpassed by the upgraded version primordial boots as well as Bandos boots and their respective upgrade guardian boots. The Granite boots have a +8 ranged defence and otherwise only slightly worse other bonuses.
Players can attach a dragon boots ornament kit, obtained from hard clue scrolls, to create gold-trimmed dragon boots (g). This is only cosmetic, and does not affect the boot's stat bonuses. It can be dismantled, returning the boots and ornament kit.
With level 60 in Runecraft and Magic, dragon boots can be combined with a primordial crystal to create a pair of primordial boots, which have increased stats and remain tradeable. The process cannot be reversed.
