Fermenting vats are used in brewing to prepare the various types of ales and cider as part of the Cooking skill. There are two fermenting vats in Gielinor. One is located in eastern Keldagrim, on the 1st floor[UK]2nd floor[US] of the Laughing Miner Pub. The other vat is located in Port Phasmatys underneath the The Green Ghost pub.
To use the vats, brewing ingredients must be put into them, followed by waiting until it is done. On average this takes 26 hours, then players must drain the vat to the nearby barrel and collect it with either 8 beer glasses or 2 calquat kegs.

Brewing Process[edit | edit source]
Ales[edit | edit source]
The main ingredients for ales are: 2 bucket of water, 2 barley malt, 1 ale yeast, and optionally: 1 the stuff
Steps |

1. Use 2 bucket of water on the fermenting vat |
2. Use 2 barley malt on the fermenting vat |
3. Optional: Use 1 the stuff on the fermenting vat, increasing the chance to mature the ale from 5% to 64% |
4. Use the ingredients specific to the brew type you want to make |
5. Use 1 ale yeast on the fermenting vat |
6. Wait for 3 x 640 minute cycles (with the stuff added, between 3 x 640 and 16 x 640 minutes) |
7. Use the valve to drain the completed ale into the barrel |
8. Use 8 beer glasses or 2 calquat kegs on the barrel full of the completed ale |
Cider[edit | edit source]
The main ingredients for cider are: 4 buckets of apple mush, 1 ale yeast

2. Use 1 ale yeast on the fermenting vat |
3. Wait for three 640 minutes farming cycles |
4. Use the valve to drain the completed ale into the barrel |
5. Use 8 beer glasses or 2 calquat kegs on the barrel full of the completed cider |
