There are several different types of fishing spots in RuneScape. The most common types are 'Net/Bait', 'Lure/Bait', 'Cage/Harpoon', and 'Net/Harpoon'. Most fishing spots take a minimum of 280 ticks (around 3 minutes) to move, and a maximum of 530 ticks (around 5 minutes). However, some fishing spots such as those for Karambwan and Frogspawn never move, and Anglerfish fishing spots last longer than most other spots.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • The fishing spots are treated as NPCs by the game engine, as evident by their text colour.
  • When a fishing spot changes location, if clicked on as it changes, the player will run to the new location to start fishing. This is most because the fishing spot teleports itself, rather than disappearing and spawning a new fishing spot.
  • Several inaccessible fishing spots can be seen near the Chaos druids in Edgeville Dungeon. They are not treated as NPCs unlike other fishing spots.
