Should we add pages for things pertaining to Old School Runescape subjects that currently only have pages on the main Runescape's wiki? Example: mentions of the runescape novel linking to the main wiki instead of an article here, as with a section for King Alvis Top5000100 (talk) 00:56, 5 November 2018 (UTC)

Comment - All of those books were released post 2007, meaning they shouldn't be covered by a wiki which primarily focuses on pre 2007 and post 2013 (OSRS). --9xFavoY.png Scuzzy Beta hib8CAd.png 00:59, 5 November 2018 (UTC)

Comment - What about anything not related to the books? I don't have specific examples, but OP did only mention the books as one example. Speeddymon (talk) 20:01, 5 November 2018 (UTC)

Comment - There are things post 2007 that have been added to the game such as the Corporeal beast, so why not discount the novels from the wiki? Afterall, while based off of 2007 RS, the game has had things from years after that added into the game. Also I never noticed this but a character (Sulla) from the first novel is actually originally mentioned in the game in the Commorb dossiers. And does not have a wiki page of his own. I am not sure of other things currently only having pages on the main RS wiki, the ones from the novel were the only prominent ones I could find. Others have references under the trivia sections, such as the one involving the Corporeal Beast. However that is just trivia reference in passing and should not have pages of their own due to being RS3 only content (Summer's End for example). Top5000100 (talk) 17:50, 7 November 2018 (UTC)

Comment - Some of the other lore links not related to the novels themselves also link to rswiki. I believe it was agreed unofficially that OSRS takes place in an alternate reality where no world champion, god sword, etc ever comes about, so some of the lore links should definitely be created as local links pages imho, but Jagex would need to fill in some of the details with official lore for that to take place. Comment - Ingame content and supplementary lore (books, postbags etc.) after 10 August 2007 are not considered canon unless they are specifically re-introduced to Old School i.e. like Corp. There are cases in which we are already in the process of bringing content over (see Postbag from the Hedge and it's characters) but we have to ensure that anything post date are not included. As for trivia that relies on lore post date they should just be removed unless they have confirmation of their canonicity, trivia comparing OS and RS3 is fine though. iN008talk 18:08, 7 November 2018 (UTC)

Comment - That's actually what I was thinking as well, you just managed to word it more eloquently. :-) Speeddymon (talk) 18:36, 7 November 2018 (UTC)

Comment - Alright then, thank you IN008 That sums it up. Also I definitely agree Speeddymon, Jagex definitely needs to fill in the details of official lore for what is considered canon in Old School Runescape in comparison to the main games' lore. Also I believe that minus certain changes in quests or how objects are found, most of the main lore was considered concrete Speeddymon. But regardless I believe an official statement will be needed on that topic. My whole thing in considering the books as a mention for new pages of subjects currently being linked to the main wiki, is that they provided a lot of lore prior to our characters' adventurers and it just seems like an unfortunate loss to not have something like that. Although of course, the game does take priority before the books.

Also, perhaps we should ask a question concerning what is and isn't canon during a Q&A thread such as on reddit or twitch chat? Top5000100 (talk) 19:34, 7 November 2018 (UTC)

Closed - There is no consensus to bring post era lore pages onto the wiki. For things that are pre 2007, they will continue to be imported into the Transcript namespace. For everything else, continue as status quo. --9xFavoY.png Scuzzy Beta hib8CAd.png 03:55, 14 November 2018 (UTC)
