Training[edit | edit source]

Doric's Quest[edit | edit source]

Players are advised to start by completing Doric's Quest because doing so grants 1,300 Mining experience, enough to advance a player from level 1 to level 10 Mining.

Levels 1-99[edit | edit source]

Levels 1-15 – Copper/Tin ore[edit | edit source]

Copper ore.pngTin ore.png The quickest way to get from level 1 to level 15 is by mining copper rocks and tin rocks, which grant 17.5 experience per ore mined. The easiest place to do this is at the south-east Lumbridge Swamp mining site. Alternatively players may seek out the mine south-east of Varrock yet it should be noted that this location is often heavily populated

  • Experience needed: 2,410
  • Ores needed: 138

It is important to keep your pickaxe up to date with your current Mining level. An Iron pickaxe should be purchased as soon as possible. Once level 6 is reached, a Steel and Mithril pickaxe should be bought on your next trip to the Grand Exchange. The Black pickaxe is generally skipped as it is seen as more of a novelty item than anything else. It is also important to remember that you do not have to be able to wield your current pickaxe. As long as you have the necessary Mining level and you have your pickaxe in your inventory, your character will automatically mine whichever ore you click on, provided you have the necessary mining level, of course.

Levels 15-99 – Iron ore[edit | edit source]

Iron ore.png The quickest way to get from level 15 to level 99 is by mining iron rocks, which grant 35 experience per ore mined. This can be done in various locations, but some are preferable if you're planning on banking the ore. If you do not want/need the ores, then the best place are the 3 rocks in the Al Kharid Mine. Here, you can mine all 3 ores in one tick a piece once you reach level 41 with a Rune pickaxe, then drop all three while you're waiting for the first rock to respawn. However, it is often busy and low level players will have to contend with Scorpions. The Dwarven Mine also has a good number of ores for power mining, but the bank in the mining guild is not accessible to F2P players. If players want to bank their ore, the closest bank is in East Falador. This bank is accessible through the Falador access staircase in the South-East of the mine, and opens to the North-East of Falador.

  • Experience needed: 13,032,020
  • Ores needed: 372,344
  • From level 41 and above, the maximum experience rate is around 50k experience per hour. Using tick manipulation, experience rates of 65k per hour are obtainable (requires an alt account and mining in the Wilderness, see Pawz's videos on YouTube).
  • Profit (if banking): 32,393,928

Other methods[edit | edit source]

Level 85-99 – Runite ore[edit | edit source]

Runite ore.png Runite mining is a highly profitable, albeit extremely slow, route to achieving level 99 in Mining. Mining runite rocks grants 125 experience per ore mined.

  • Experience needed: 9,775,837
  • Ore needed: 78,207
  • Profit: 892,889,319
