|Examine||A nugget of gold from the Motherlode Mine.|
|High alch||60 coins|
|Low alch||40 coins|
Golden nuggets are obtained in the Motherlode Mine by searching the sack after cleaning the pay-dirt. There is normally a 2.73% chance of pay-dirt yielding a golden nugget, however some mining levels give a very slightly increased chance. An overfilled sack of 108 pay-dirt has a 94.97% probability to contain at least one golden nugget. They can be traded in for various rewards from Prospector Percy's Nugget Shop.
The full Prospector kit costs 180 nuggets.
At current values based on the price of soft clay, each golden nugget is worth 1,490 coins.
Likewise, based on the average value of bag full of gems, each golden nugget is worth 585.02 coins.
|Bag full of gems||40||23,401.00|
|Soft clay pack||10||14,900|
Mining rate[edit | edit source]
Due to the rounding behavior of the game engine, there are some levels where the golden nugget yield is slightly higher.
Based on data crowdsourced from RuneLite, the boosted rate as shown in the graph only applies when a celestial ring is not worn. When a celestial ring was worn and the player had not completed the Falador Elite Diary the boosted rate was observed at approximately mining levels 95-99, while strangely after completion of the Falador Elite Diary, the boosted rate was not observed at any level.
|Celestial ring worn?||Falador Elite Completed?||Levels observed with boosted rate|
|No||No||43, 57, 71, 85, 99|
|No||Yes||43, 57, 71, 85, 99|
|Yes||No||95, 96, 97, 98, 99|
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- Soft clay packs were once tradeable upon release and could be sold to Prospector Percy for golden nuggets, effectively allowing players to buy golden nuggets using coins. This was not widely known or used until achievement diaries were released, where the prospector kit was required for the hard Falador Diary. It was first accepted by Jagex Moderators as an "unforeseen feature", but packs were changed to become untradeable in an update on 9 April 2015, returning golden nuggets to their intended untradeable status.
