A grape seed can be planted in a vine patch in order to grow a grape vine which will produce grapes. It requires 1 grape seed per patch, and there are 12 patches available at the vinery, thus requiring 12 grape seeds to fill up all the patches. Planting the seeds requires a Farming level of 36 to do so. It can be obtained from the Tithe Farm for 2 points per seed or by trading other players.
Players will need to use saltpetre on the patches with a gardening trowel in order to treat the soil before planting the grape seeds. Afterwards, Gallow will watch over your grapes for free.
Once fully grown, players can check the grape vine's health for 625 Farming experience, and can be harvested for grapes (or Zamorak's grapes if players have a sufficient amount of Bologa's blessings in their inventory). The amount of grapes harvested from a fully grown grape vine is random, much like the harvesting herbs, with a minimum number of five lives to ensure a guaranteed amount each harvest. After all the grapes have been harvested, the grape vine will die and players will have to clear the farming patch with a spade.

Attempting to plant grape seeds in the wrong type of patch now gives the message "You can only plant grape seeds in a vine patch." rather than "Nothing interesting happens."
- The models for a grape vine’s sixth and seventh growth stage appear to be swapped by mistake, making it appear to grow backwards for a stage before fully grown.
