The holy Sanguinesti staff is a Sanguinesti staff with a holy ornament kit attached to it. The ornament kit gives no additional stat bonuses, but it will make the staff count as a Saradomin item in the God Wars Dungeon.

The holy Sanguinesti staff retains all the properties that the original variant has, such as its passive effect and its built-in spell, which still requires blood runes to charge.

While the staff is untradeable in its ornamented and charged state, it can be dismantled anytime, returning the ornament kit and staff.

Uses[edit | edit source]

A player attack triggers the staff's passive effect.

Compared to the trident of the swamp, the built-in spell hits one damage higher with a maximum base damage of 34 compared to the trident of the swamp's 33. The trident possesses the ability to envenom, while the staff possesses the healing passive effect.

Thus, the staff is most optimal in situations where venom or poison has no benefit and where healing is required. However, if the player's target is not immune to venom, players could initially use the trident of the swamp against the target until the target has been envenomed, then switch to the Sanguinesti staff. Notable encounters where the staff's healing capability proves very useful include the Kraken, the Chambers of Xeric, Dagannoth Rex, Zulrah, Nightmare, and the Tombs of Amascut.

Charging[edit | edit source]

In order to use the staff's magic spell, it must be charged with blood runes, holding up to 20,000 charges when fully charged. Each cast requires 3 blood runes, costing 588 coins per cast.

The total cost to fully charge the staff with 60,000 blood runes is 11,760,000 coins. Assuming non-stop use, with one cast every 2.4 seconds equalling 1,500 casts per hour, the staff costs 882,000 coins per hour to use.

Players can uncharge the staff whenever and wherever they choose, getting all of the blood runes back.

Maximum hit[edit | edit source]

The maximum hit dealt by the staff is dependent on the player's current Magic level, starting at 26 with level 82 Magic and increasing by one every three Magic levels, up to a maximum of 40 at level 123 (obtainable only through smelling salts in Tombs of Amascut). Both magic damage bonuses and stat boosts will modify the max hit of the spell; likewise, stat-reductions will lower the damage. The staff always has a max hit of at least 5, even when reduced to 0 magic. Compared to the other three powered staves, the trident of the seas has a lower base maximum hit by 4 (max of 20 at level 75), the trident of the swamp has a lower base maximum hit by 1 (max of 24 at level 78), and Tumeken's shadow has a higher base maximum hit by 3 (max of 29 at level 85).

When on a Slayer task and using the Slayer helmet (i), the maximum hit is increased by a further 15%. This bonus stacks multiplicatively on top of the other magic bonuses above, but it does not stack with a Salve amulet(ei).
