The infernal harpoon is a special type of harpoon that is created by using a smouldering stone on a dragon harpoon, requiring an unboosted level of 75 Fishing and 85 Cooking. Creating the harpoon grants 350 Cooking and 200 Fishing experience. Making the infernal harpoon cannot be reversed. After the 5,000 charges are consumed, the harpoon will act like a regular dragon harpoon, and can be recharged with another smouldering stone or dragon harpoon.
The Infernal harpoon can be used as a weapon or to catch fish. Fishing with it gives a 1/3 chance for the fish to be cooked as it is fished. This will consume the fish and will grant half of the Cooking experience that would normally be granted when cooking the fish. The harpoon will not consume big fish, such as the big shark. If all 5,000 charges are used on raw sharks, 525,000 Cooking xp will be gained.
Fishing harpoonfish from Tempoross consumes charges. The 1/3 chance to cook gives a cooked harpoonfish rather than incinerating the fish.
The infernal harpoon possesses the same special attack as the dragon harpoon, which requires 100% special attack energy and boosts the player's Fishing level by 3.
The infernal harpoon cannot be reverted back to a tradeable dragon harpoon or smouldering stone. If lost on death in level 20 or higher Wilderness, it is converted to 11,000.
The infernal harpoon will be able to consume 5,000 fish before degrading, requiring another smouldering stone or dragon harpoon to recharge it. When fully depleted, it can still be used as a regular dragon harpoon.
At current Grand Exchange prices, one stone charge costs approximately 861.17 and one harpoon charge costs approximately 225.57.
