Low Level Alchemy

Calculators determine experience and costs based on real-time prices from the Grand Exchange Market Watch.

Low Level Alchemy (or low alch/low alching) is a spell that can turn most items into coins at 40% of the specialty shop sale price, equivalent to general store buying prices. This is about 2/3 of the high alchemy value, which turns items into coins worth 60% of the item's sale price.

This spell requires level 21 Magic and uses 1 nature rune and 3 fire runes (or, for members, 3 lava runes, which cost 0 less) to cast, or can be cast for free with any level of the explorer's ring. While the casting speed of this spell is ~67% faster than High Level Alchemy, it yields less experience than High Level Alchemy, both in terms of experience per cast and experience per hour. Thus, Low Level Alchemy is recommended neither for training Magic, nor for potential profits, as the cost of the item and spell is almost always far more than the money obtained.

This spell has the same cost as High Level Alchemy when cast with a fire staff (or other member's only item that provides infinite fire runes for non-combat spells at a minimum), namely 1 nature rune (assuming the player isn't utilising the member's only Bryophyta's staff in conjunction with a charged Tome of Fire, which collectively provide unlimited fire runes for non-combat purposes, as well as reduce nature rune consumption by about 6.7%), yet produces less gold, so it becomes almost useless once the player obtains High Level Alchemy.
