A magic box is a type of trap used in the Hunter skill. The magic box trapping technique is used to catch imps. With the required Hunter level, the player may set up a magic box. When an imp passes the trap, it may be caught, but only when the player is not standing on the trap.
If the prey is successfully caught, the magic box will enclose the imp inside the box. Doing this creates an Imp-in-a-box, which can be used to bank 2 items or stacks of items.
Adding bait (any bead) to a trap will increase the catch rate by +3%.[1] It is not possible to smoke magic boxes, unlike other hunter traps, to increase the catch rate. Doing so yields the message: "Imps steal so many human items, they're unlikely to be worried by human spells." Due to the low increase of the catch rate, most players believe that adding bait to traps doesn't justify the extra actions it takes.
Magic boxes, as well as magic imp box packs containing 100 magic boxes, may be bought from Aleck Aleck's Hunter Emporium. in Yanille or the Nardah Hunter Shop in Nardah.
Having a magic box in your inventory prevents you from entering the Puro-Puro mini-game.
Imp-in-a-boxes can also be used to store items while in the wilderness or pvp areas, provided you are not in combat and below level 30 wilderness.
