An old school bond is an item that allows a player to pay for membership, both Old School RuneScape as RS3, on their account. Players can purchase them from Jagex for real-world money, then redeem them in-game for membership or trade them with other players for coins or items, allowing players to buy membership with in-game items or (indirectly) in-game items with real-world money.
A newly-purchased bond may be traded with another player, sold on the Grand Exchange, or used on another player to "donate" it to them for free - Ironman players cannot donate bonds to other players but can accept bonds donated to them by other players. As soon as a bond changes ownership, however, it becomes untradeable, as indicated by the green gem in the centre of the bond being missing. Should a player want to make it tradeable again, they must pay a fee of 10% of the bond's Grand Exchange value (currently costing 447,469, making the resale value approximately 4,027,219 each).
Players can store up to 20 tradeable bonds and 20 untradeable bonds in their bond pouch. This is a feature of each player's Old School RuneScape account rather than an in-game item, and can be accessed via the Account Management interface.
Players may only buy or sell one bond per Grand Exchange slot.
Uses[edit | edit source]
Membership time[edit | edit source]
At any time, whether tradeable or untradeable, a player can redeem one or more of their bonds for membership:
- 14 days for 1 bond
- 29 days for 2 bonds (1 day extra compared to 2 bonds separately redeemed)
- 45 days for 3 bonds (3 days extra compared to 3 bonds separately redeemed)
Display name change[edit | edit source]
Members can change their display name using the option in their Account Management interface or on the RuneScape website under Account Settings. A player can do this once every 28 days for free, or can spend 1 bond from their bond pouch to do so without having to wait. Note that if a player changes their display name on the website after already having changed it once, they may choose their previous name, but when changing their display name in-game, they may not.

Cost per day[edit | edit source]
The following table shows the average cost in coins per day of membership, based on the Grand Exchange price of bonds. This could be interpreted as the amount of money a player would need to make per day on average if planning on paying for membership by buying bonds in-game.
|Option||Days of membership||Bonds required||Price per day|
|Premier Club: Bronze||90||5||248,594|
|Premier Club: Silver||180||10||248,594|
|Premier Club: Gold||360||20||248,594|

Trivia[edit | edit source]
- The old school bond is the only item on the Grand Exchange website that does not display the amount traded per day.
