Minnows are members-only fish that can be caught at Kylie Minnow's fishing platform at the Fishing Guild. They require a small fishing net and 82 Fishing to be caught, which cannot be boosted, granting 26.1 Fishing experience per catch of minnow. Boosting does however increase the rate at which they are caught. These catches consist of between 10-14 minnow, dependent on the player's Fishing level.
The platform may only be accessed after showing Kylie the full angler's outfit and having completed the Fishing Contest quest.
Minnow can be exchanged for noted raw sharks by trading with Kylie Minnow at a rate of 40 minnows for one raw shark.
Minnow fishing spots move around in a consistent 1-tile clockwise rotation at a fixed rate of 15.6 seconds, or 25 ticks. This is more rapid than other forms of net fishing. Players can use a synced interval timer for an auditory signal notifying the player of the spot moving, or simply count a total of 10 experience drops, which is the maximum that can be received from a fishing spot before it moves.
A flying fish gobbles up the player's minnow.
In addition, a fishing spot will occasionally spawn flying fish instead of providing minnows; flying fish will eat 20 or more minnow directly from the player's inventory as long as they keep fishing there, forcing them to move to another spot. A flying fish appears only after a fishing spot has changed, and can continue to eat the player's minnows until the fishing spot changes position once again.
Equipping the Rada's blessing from Kourend & Kebos Diary gives up to 8% chance to catch twice the amount of minnows (no experience is given for the additional catch). This works well with the stackable nature of minnows in the inventory.
While the fishing platform can only be accessed via the Fishing Guild, Minnow fishing does not benefit from the Guild's +7 invisible level boost.
Rada's blessing increases minnows per hour by 2% per tier of diary completed.
