This article is about the account build. For the weapon, see Tzhaar-ket-om
An obsidian mauler is a type of pure build. They train their Strength levels extremely high and maintain a low Attack level. They get the name "Obsidian Mauler" from the fact that they use the Tzhaar-ket-om in PVP to achieve high hits at low levels. Many variants of this build exist, some choose to train their attack levels for more accuracy as well as completion of quests, attack is rarely trained higher than 20. By training defence, players choose to go the "tank" route, sacrificing combat levels for higher survivability and access to armour with strength bonuses.
Training an obsidian pure can be a rather lengthy process since keeping Attack at level 1 means melee hits are very inaccurate. They usually use weapons such as the Red topaz machete, a poisoned Bone dagger, the Event rpg, the Ham joint, the Swift blade or the Slayer staff. The Slayer staff is the preferred weapon to use because it has the highest crush bonus and strength bonus for any weapon that requires level 1 Attack, but in order to wield it you must have level 55 Slayer and level 50 Magic. The Event rpg, Ham joint and Swift blade have the fastest attack speed of all melee weapons, making them excellent choices against low Defence targets such as Sand crabs.
- An Obsidian tank has a high Defence level allowing it to use high level armour, giving them access to special effects as well as high defensive bonuses.
- 75 Defence allows use of the serpentine helm and the dragonfire shield: the venom damage allows the build to hit high damage and stack it with the special attack of the dragon fire shield, in turn dealing massive damage.
- The highest tier of Culinaromancer's gloves this account build can achieve is rune gloves, due to Monkey Madness I rewarding attack experience.
- ↑ Due to the high-level build not using Obsidian armour, the max hit is slightly lower than the mid-level build, while gaining a lot of defensive bonuses.
