One Small Wiki Favour is a project to improve the OSRS Wiki, where wiki users can contribute to a number of ongoing wiki tasks and qualify for receiving in-game rewards, including bonds. Anyone is welcome to participate, whether you're completely new to the wiki or you've been here for a while. If you have not edited before, then this is a great time to get involved!

To participate in this project, take a look at the tasks below and find one that looks exciting -- completing any one of them will earn you a share of a bond. Each task has some advice on how to effectively tackle it, but we strongly recommend joining the #one-small-wiki-favour channel in our Discord to coordinate with other editors, discuss the project, and claim your rewards.

Tasks

Current tasks active until

14 September

If you have worked on a goal and want to be considered for a bond, please let us know in the OSWF discord channel. One of the project helpers will check your contributions and may award you a bond if you have completed the task. If you have done work on a goal but not managed to complete it fully before the reset time then you may still be rewarded some coins for your work.

If you are awarded a bond then it will be added directly to your RuneScape account - please allow up to a week for Jagex to action our requests for bonds. If you are awarded coins then one of the project helpers will meet you in game to give you your reward - just ask in the discord channel to claim your prize and a project helper will meet you when you are available.

Hosidius House Gang Locations - Task completed

Update the Shayzien gangbusting activity to reflect the Hosidius rework

After the recent Hosidius rework, the gangbusting activity needs new information and updated maps.

Due to Hosidius's reletively recent redesign, a number of maps of the area are no longer accurate, making many of the guides for activities in these areas misleading or unhelpful. One of the most egregious examples of the wiki's out-of-date coverage of this area is in the Shayzien gangbusting activity section on the Shayzien page. The section most in need of work is (naturally) the Hosidius section, found at Shayzien#Hosidius, but other nearby areas may need updated maps as well. The descriptions and messages associated with these new locations should naturally be updated along with the maps.

For this task, the quality of the new maps and guides is expected to meet or exceed the quality of the maps and guides already on these pages. To make maps to match the quality and style of the wiki, it is suggested that you start with File:Zeah map.png, crop it down to size, and overlay File:Map highlight overlay.png on top of it where appropriate.

Update history - Task completed

Add patch notes from 5 different updates to relevant pages

One of our newest (and most ambitious) projects is to document information about how game updates have affected content over time. A group of editors is currently working through old patch notes and copying them on to pages of content that was affected by each patch.

This information is organised chronologically in a new section called "Changes" which is being added to pages. You can help by doing this for the patch notes listed below. There is a project page which explains how to add in a new patch note here, as well as a dedicated #update-history channel on our Discord.

Here is a list of the currently prioritized updates:

Once you've completed an update, mark it off here and on the project page, so we can stay organized and keep track of what's been done.

Sorceress's Garden Strategy Guide - Task completed

Update the Sorceress's Garden page and its attached strategy pages

As an unpopular and often forgotten minigame, the Sorceress's Garden page and its related subpages are all in need of significant improvement. The goal of this task is to bring these pages up to the standards of quality expected on the wiki, and to better incorporate this minigame into existing training guides if appropriate.

The focus of this task is on the Sorceress's Garden page, its related subpages (Sorceress's Garden/Winter, Sorceress's Garden/Spring, Sorceress's Garden/Autumn, Sorceress's Garden/Summer), and the Thieving training page. To complete this task, it is expected that all of the following should be done:
  • Accurate and updated exp rates should be attached to each level of the garden
  • Maps of the gardens, with indicators and icons showing the guards and their routes, should be uploaded and incorporated into the pages
  • Advanced strategies, such as "one-clicking" and "guard syncing" should be addressed in these guards where they are relevant. Framed has had a video guide on this topic for years, but the wiki has yet to catch up to speed
  • Links to this minigame should be added to relevant guide pages such as Thieving training, with the aforementioned updated experience rates

For an example of a minigame page of reasonable quality, see Rogues' Den. The Sorceress's Garden page and its related subpages should aim to exceed the quality of that page in order to achieve task completion.

Item Spawn Maps - Task active

Add maps of item spawns to 100 item pages

We're starting a project to add maps of all item spawn locations to articles -- see Amulet mould as a simple example. Previously, we gathered spawn data from just about every corner of the RuneScape world, giving us the exact coordinates and quantities of nearly every item spawn. We have a spreadsheet here that contains that information. Now we need to add it to the wiki.

For simple, single spawns, you can just paste the following in a section on the item article:
==Item spawns==
*{{Item spawns|item=Amulet mould|text=Crafting Guild (ground floor)
|2928,3290}}

Changing the name of the item, the coordinates (either x,y,or x,y,plane if the plane isn't zero). Also choose text that describes the general location -- you can use a tool like https://explv.github.io to figure out a general idea of where the coordinates are.

For more complex spawns, you may want to add the quantity, respawn time in seconds, or additional notes, which will show up on the map:

--
{{Item spawns|item=Edible seaweed|text=doot doot
|3813,3754,qty:4 (noted),respawn:30,notes:Foofoofoo
|3717,3848,qty:16,notes:Foofoofoo2}}

As shown in this example, you can have multiple spawns shown in a single map. Usually only do this if the spawns are very close together (like Snape grass). Otherwise, just have multiple maps with the different spawn locations.

Right now we're only doing spawns that are on the surface, not in dungeons and things. If you come across a spawn that isn't on the surface, just put that in the notes section of the spreadsheet.

As you add maps to the wiki, mark them off on the spreadsheet. This is a pretty complex and new project, so if you have any questions or notice something wrong, please join our Discord server so we can talk it through.

Thieving/Agility Obstacle Pages - Task active

Create 10 pages for undocumented Thieving or Agility obstacles

Outside of the classic training locations like Rogues' Den and Rooftop Agility Courses, RuneScape is filled with locked doors, secret passageways, and all manner of odd little obstacles that either require Thieving or Agility levels to traverse or reward experience in those skills when used. This task is part of an effort to better document as many of these obstacles as possible

These pages do not need to be particularly long, but should meet the high quality standards of the wiki. The key points of information every page should have are:
  • Obstacle name
  • Obstacle image
  • Obstacle location
  • Obstacle examine
  • Agility/Thieving level requirement
  • Agility/Thieving experience given
  • Any other requirements, notes, features

For quality examples of obstacle pages, see Tunnel (Miscellania Dungeon), Crevice (Miscellania Dungeon), and Bridge (Nature Grotto). The obstacle pages you create for this task should try to be of similar quality as those examples. An example of ones missing are the plant doors underwater and the pressure pads inside Kruk's Dungeon.

This task is focused on odd obstacles that aren't part of Agility courses and aren't marked as Agility shortcuts in its skill guide. If you are unsure if an obstacle warrants a page, feel free to ask in the designated Discord channel.

Hosidius Mess Strategy Update - Task completed

Update the Hosidius Mess page to include accurate strategy information and experience rates

Currently the Mess page only has a brief description of the activity, and very little useful information for anybody wanting to use it as a Cooking training location. This lack of information is compounded by outdated images that have not been updated since the Hosidius rework. This task aims to add pertinent strategy information, update the images, and add accurate experience rates to the page.

The coverage for this page does not need to be incredibly lengthy, as the activity itself is not particularly complicated. It is recommended that a separate "Strategy" section be added to the page, with details on how to quickly and efficiently make food to maximize Cooking experience rates at the activity. The expected experience rates should be added to the strategy section as well, with maximum and minimum expected rates depending on skill and focus on the activity. Any outdated images on the page should be updated to reflect the current layout of the Mess.

For an example of a minigame page of reasonable quality, see Rogues' Den. The Mess page should aim to exceed the quality of that page in order to achieve task completion.
