Welcome to the Old School RuneScape Wiki User Help page. This page is here to offer a central location for those who are participating with the development of this wiki to make general requests for help. For admin help, click here.

Note for requesters - Once a solution has been presented and implemented, please add a comment signifying completion, if the request hasn't already been archived. This is to help other users know when to archive completed requests.

Instructions[edit source]

What this page is for[edit source]

  • Coding help. Requesting help with writing templates, making a nice user page, or any questions on writing wiki-code can be asked here and users will help to the best of their ability.
  • Requests for non-administrative actions. If help is required with an action (such as moving a page), asking users here for help with that action is acceptable.
  • Questions on how the wiki works. All the policies and processes in use on the Old School RuneScape Wiki may seem a little overwhelming at first. If you need help in understanding any of the policies, or more in depth instructions on a process, asking here is a good start.
  • Other questions to the users of the wiki. While the Redwood Grove is often a better place, a simple question may be asked here for a quick response.
  • An all-in-one place to put things. Many of the wiki's procedures are lesser-known, so putting a note here is a good way to do something if the correct procedure is not known.

What this page is not for[edit source]

  • Requests for actions involving administrator tools. Please use Admin requests for such requests.
  • Larger discussion with other users on policies or other wide-ranging actions. The Redwood Grove is a more suitable location to discuss larger changes to the Wiki's policies, procedures and high-use templates.
  • General chat (about Old School RuneScape or not). General chat about Old School RuneScape (or an off-topic subject) should be taken to individual user talk pages, or article talk pages when applicable.

Requests[edit source]

Adding the page '100% completion'[edit source]

I'm interested in adding a page describing the requirements to achieve a theoretical 100% completion in the game.

I already did a short writeup of what I can think of over on my user page. I'm interested in feedback on how to make it a proper wiki article, general advice and things I've missed.

Thanks for any help!  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by CX gamer (talk) on 16:11, 21 September 2021 (UTC).

Hi! To be completely honest, my gut instinct is that this is something that should remain a userpage unless something like the completionist cape from RS3 is added to OS. The reason why I'd say that is because it's a bit ill-defined what "100%" completion means in a game like this. Like is maxing out all boss counters (probably max unsigned 32 bit int each) or finishing the collection log part of it? Maxing in game isn't even really completion because 200M experience in all would be the "most complete" by that metric. I don't think there's an agreed upon way of deciding what takes too much time to be unrealistic. Keep in mind this is just my opinion, and I know there are plenty of people who would disagree with me!
However, I think this is separate from something like "One offs" or "Unrepeatable events", which is what most of your userpage looks like. I wouldn't be opposed to a page with a list of those personally. For the most part, these are pretty easy to define. Unlocking permanent transportation, spells, etc. all fall into this category as do things like unlocking the "Travel last" options on NPCs in some cases and objects like the POH jewellery box. There are some weird cases like pickpocketing Teddy from the student in the Digsite post-quest. This actually sets a varbit (persistent player state) that we can see if we inspect with Runelite, but there isn't a way to tell otherwise. I'd probably push for stuff like that to not be on such a page or maybe on the talk page instead. I actually have a Runelite plugin in the plugin hub that tracks some of these things on GitHub here (warning: it's a bit outdated) if you want to take a look for some other ideas. There's also a clan called Totus that focuses on defining completionist/collectionist criteria if you want to look into joining that (iirc it requires all achievement diaries done). I think this is a really interesting topic in general so I appreciate you bringing it up! By the way, you may want to join the wiki Discord since there are plenty of people who would be happy to give some feedback in realtime and help with something like this. - Andmcadams (talk) 17:58, 21 September 2021 (UTC)
Yeah, I agree that 100% may be ill defined, you're right on that. The "Unrepeatable events" page peaks my interest, but it's mostly bundled into Unlockable content, though the page could use some work. I love the Task checker! I'm going to work towards Totus, absolutely. Thanks for your suggestions! 19:48, 21 September 2021 (UTC)

Reset Quest Table Highlights and etc[edit source]

Hello!

With the new Group Ironman mode out, I was wondering if there was a way to reset the quest highlights as well as the item requirement checkboxes, etc.

Thank you, bravo713  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Bravo713 (talk) on 07:26, 14 October 2021 (UTC).

You can do that by deleting the Local storage for the wiki in your browser settings. It might differ by browser, but on desktop Chrome you can select the padlock icon next to the URL bar, then Cookies, then oldschool.runescape.wiki, and then select the 'Local storage' folder and then remove it. Linking to MMG profit[edit source]

Is there any way to link to the profit per hour of an activity that currently has an MMG? I want to do this for a skill training guide. --Mannana Banana hat.png 21:52, 9 January 2022 (UTC)

I've decided I should look into this more and perhaps even create a template for it. --Mannana Banana hat.png 00:31, 10 January 2022 (UTC)
Would appreciate some help -- this stuff is really difficult!!! --Mannana Banana hat.png 03:54, 10 January 2022 (UTC)
MMGs currently do not input anything into smw, which is how you would accomplish this normally, so your simplest alternative would be to do something with {{#expr:}} with parser functions to at least approximate. Otherwise we would have to add it to Template:Mmgtable, but idk if we would want to do that yes (or how easily we could). it is due for a re-write at some point, but it is a massive undertaking to do so Fjaratalk 05:05, 10 January 2022 (UTC)
Do you know if there's any way to directly access the source code of a page? Best workaround I could find so far is DPL, specifically the "include" parameter. --Mannana Banana hat.png 18:08, 10 January 2022 (UTC)

Just figured it out and made a template for it! Haven't created any documentation yet though, so for now it's just on my userpage: User:Mannana/Template:Mmgprofit --Mannana Banana hat.png 21:42, 10 January 2022 (UTC)

What pages and how are you thinking of using it? Fjaratalk 22:12, 10 January 2022 (UTC)
I was originally thinking of the thieving training guide, but I imagine there's several more applications. Do you have any advice/feedback, or know somebody who would? Perhaps this could prove useful to somebody. --Mannana Banana hat.png 01:20, 11 January 2022 (UTC)
I'm just making an actual template now: Template:Mmgprofit. Lmk what you think. --Mannana Banana hat.png 19:33, 11 January 2022 (UTC)

BIS Links[edit source]

I have no idea how to do this myself, but I often wonder about certain items (such as BGS, DWH for spec) and which instances they would be the best in slot option. I've not seen a way to see this in one place, so I thought it might be a good idea to have a section on each weapon/armor page that listed this such as "Best in Slot Uses" (a better title because that's not good) and then have it link to the Strategies page for the respective boss (Like DWH would have a list that included KQ and others that would be the BIS spec weapon) Some may need tailored and shortened since something like Primordial Boots or Pegasian Boots would be listed in almost all guides that require melee/range. Zulrah Drop Table[edit source]

I have a question/recommendation about the Zulrah drop table. Technically speaking, doesn't the Mutagen drop table fall into the same table of items that the flax is listed under? Since it says "There is a 10/2,632 chance to hit the mutagen sub-table within the flax table (10/248)." wouldn't it make sense to have it listed in that same table?

Graphical updates template[edit source]

Hello,

Myself, and more recently SacKings and Spineweilder have been adding images to the graphical update galleries at the bottom of pages, in the way that was broadly agreed on in Forum:Changing pages' graphical update galleries.

However, these can't handle synced switches very well at all. Without going into too much detail, look at the source for the Bronze bolts page to see just how ugly it can get. (On some pages such as Fire giant, it just doesn't work at all)

Anyway I think these need a new template to simplify things, and allow switches to work properly. However I have no idea how to go about creating this. So basically I need a kind volunteer to pretty much do all the work for me after I specify how it should function. Hlwys (talk) 21:04, 16 February 2022 (UTC)

Drop Rate for Crystal Teleport Seed Discrepancy[edit source]

Hello,

Just wanted to let you know I noticed the drop rate for the teleport seed is listed differently on its page from the teleport crystal item page. I believe they are the same item. One is listed at 1/5.12 and the other 1/128. Linked below for convivence.

https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Teleport_crystal https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Crystal_teleport_seed

Cheers,  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 65.25.232.255 (talk) on 01:06, 5 March 2022 (UTC).

These are actually different items, with different drop rates. The Teleport crystal is the charged form of the item, and it drops at a rate of 1/128 from various Elf enemies. The Crystal teleport seed is the uncharged version, and it drops at a rate of 25/128. You can see both items on the drop table of monsters like Elf Warrior in the "Other" section of their drops. Information on NPC attack range and aggression range[edit source]

I can't seem to find information regarding the attack range values of various NPCs that attack used ranged/magic attacks. For example, Jal-MejRah in the inferno has an attack range of 4 tiles, but this information isn't on the wiki. This information would be particularly useful for monsters in Inferno/Fight Caves and probably a lot of other places as well. Is it possible for someone to add some of this information to the wiki? I have information about some of the monsters, but I don't know how to add it to the wiki.

It would also be helpful to have information on the Aggression ranges of each NPC. This could be difficult due to the fact that NPCs with same ID could have difficult aggression and/or attack ranges. I've noticed this for mithril dragons in the Ancient Cavern. The aggression radius for these NPCs seems to vary based on the particular spawn, even though the NPC IDs are the same.

Equipment bonuses[edit source]

Hello, I would like assistance in adding a GE price column to the equipment bonuses template.

When looking through the various articles on equipment, there is almost always a set of two redundant tables - one labelled "components" which lists the items in a set with their GE prices, and then another labelled "bonuses" which lists the items again with their equipment bonuses. If the GE prices could be added to the equipment bonuses table, these two tables could be consolidated into one.

However, I am not versed in editing templates or using Lua, so I require some assistance to realize this change.

Thanks all,

Adjacent images help[edit source]

Hello all,

I am struggling to figure out how to get two images to be placed side-by-side instead of on top of each other. Specifically, on Ardougne cloak 2 under the "Benefits" section, I would like to have the two teleport animations appear next to each other on the right side of the table, instead of the second one "overflowing" and moving down into the next section. Any tips or assistance is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

--Ioticonfo (talk) 03:41, 9 April 2022 (UTC)

I think your only way to do this would be a style-less table (See source):
A player teleporting to the Ardougne Monastery.
A player teleporting to the Ardougne farm patch.

Request for remote Jewelry Use[edit source]

Hello!

I'd like to propose adding a new function to the game for Jewelry, Teleport spells and Teleport Tablets, and items that might otherwise need equipped.

Suppose I need a one way, single use, trip to the Wizards Tower, and won't need to use that again before I get to a bank, I have to set aside a precious inventory slot to do so.

My proposal is that the above functions be added so that a person could be in their bank and rub a necklace or cast a teleport spell, or break a teleport tablet, and get to their destination without sacrificing an inventory space!

The function would appear as an item option, by right clicking on the item in the bank and then selecting the action desired. Basically the same menu that would pop up while holding or wearing the item would happen while it was sitting in the bank.

Thanks for your consideration!  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 2600:1007:b001:82b9:90fe:149d:550e:ba01 (talk) on 14:40, 27 April 2022 (UTC).

Inclusion of relevent music tracks across wiki pages[edit source]

Hey! I'm an editor and the wiki has been super useful for proper renders and relevant details, however some pages are missing the music tracks that play or are included around said content. That said, I do know that the song "Chef Surprise" plays during the RFD Culinaromancer's Realm, and I scoured for a while on my own trying to find out which track it was. Just was hoping for it's and many others' inclusion

Thank you for all you do, INCLUDING the itemDB.

In dark mode on mobile, have readable text[edit source]

When editing via certain interfaces on mobile in dark mode, I have dark text on a dark background. For example, the "reply" box under a topic on a talk page.

This is almost impossible to read. Does anyone know how I can either change the background or text to white? MrWG (talk) 06:20, 20 June 2022 (UTC)

@MrWG: It can only be changed in the site css (which is mainly Common.less, Vector.less, and Minerva.less) by admins. For the talk pages example, I fixed it here and here. Let me know if there's any other big styling issues. Shayani (talk) 06:48, 20 June 2022 (UTC)

Runelite-Wiki sync on STASH page?[edit source]

Last Leagues had a sync option for tasks, and I used it quite a bit. Would it be possible to make such sync option for ex. STASH page? So you could easily make STASH units beforehand, knowing witch have been made and filled?

I do not know how difficult it is to implement this, but note that the noticeboard and stash chart can be used to quickly see the stashes you've built. The list of stash units on STASH can be used to track what stashes have been built when not in your house/at Watson. MrWG (talk) 13:01, 25 June 2022 (UTC)

Gnome Restuarant Questions[edit source]

Hi!

In regards to Gnome Restaurant, I see there is an interesting notice included. "Note: You can get two or more unique items at once as tips (such as gnome scarves or goggles), so it is possible to have gnome goggles as a tip, and then get them again as another tip while still owning another pair, although the instance is rare." I've done Gnome Restaurant for over 500 hard deliveries, and am wandering how that instance is possible, because it is interesting to me.

Last 2 questions;

Brambickle apparently rewards up to 10 grand seed pods, although Mod Ash replied to me on twitter today that the code only lists 5. I don't know if anyone has ever gotten 10, so I'd be interested to see if that too is possible.

Lastly, How time dependant are the rewards from gnome restaurant, or not at all? Say I delivered my food in 10 seconds versus 5 minutes. Would the 10 second mark get a better drop chance/roll at scarf/pods? -Mod Ash said it doesn't, but then that's kind've bland if it doesn't because it is a delivery game after all  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Oxelere (talk) on 19:43, 27 June 2022 (UTC).

The two or more uniques was removed since there is no reason to suggest that is real and it was worded weirdly as well. Brambickles was updated to 5 instead of 10. and rewards are not time dependant at all Fjaratalk 13:55, 21 July 2022 (UTC)

Farming patches[edit source]

My apologies if this doesn't belong here but I am not a coder or editor and do not have the knowledge to do these things, but the farming patches page does not include the miscellania patches. Thought I would try to let someone know. Thank you for hearing me out.  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Kwdog90 (talk) on 01:00, 10 July 2022 (UTC).

Those patches can't be used for farming, with the exception of the bush and spirit tree patches on Etceteria. It would be a bit pointless to include them on a list of useable farming patches. InvalidCards (talk) 08:50, 10 July 2022 (UTC)

Hi, my RSN is xLADYxHAWKx I am looking at nearly any quest page. In fact, The Fremennik Trials that I did yesterday has a red X after 25 Fletching and 40 Crafting. 40 Woodcutting has a green checkmark. I am currently at 50 Fletching and 43 Crafting. Am I doing something wrong? I installed RuneLite because of the Wiki, to get updated stats.... XLADYxHAWKx (talk) 13:18, 13 July 2022 (UTC)
Just as some quick troubleshooting, were you using RuneLite while doing the quest? We only update stats based on what our plugin sees and not based on the Hiscores, so if you played on RuneLite once to get your account on WikiSync, but then go and level up your character on Steam/mobile/Vanilla, we won’t see those new levels until you log into RuneLite again. Logging on RuneLite would give us the new updates though.
If you could also double check that RuneLite has the WikiSync plugin downloaded and toggled on, that would be great. It may seem sort of obvious but this has been something that’s happened in the past, especially for people playing on multiple devices.
Cook or I can check the logs at some point later today to see if we see some errors on our side as well. Let me know if any of that fixes it in the meantime though. - Andmcadams (talk) 14:47, 13 July 2022 (UTC)
OMG I feel so stupid LOL Somehow my WikiSync got turned off. I turned it on and have checked, my stats are showing correctly now. Thank you so very much! XLADYxHAWKx (talk) 20:08, 13 July 2022 (UTC)

Are the revenant monster droprates outdated?[edit source]

Hello,

The droprates listed on the revenant ork page (this is the only revenant monster I've looked at) have remained unchanged since at least 15-October-2018,

Between that date and now, there has been a few mentions of changes to the revenant drop tables, e.g.:

6-Aug-2020: The average value of the revenant drop table been reduced by around 20%.

21-Oct-2020: Being skulled has less impact on drop rates.

27-Oct-2021: The revenant's drop table was readjusted again.

However, the listed droprates for both uniques and normal loot have remained the same. Is this something you could look into updating with data from the Drop Rate Project?

Note: Potentially I'm misinterpreting the revision history of the wiki as I'm not too familiar with it. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 203.221.212.165 (talk) on 08:50, 21 July 2022 (UTC).

Editing pages rules and guidelines[edit source]

Hi,

I noticed a small mistake in the https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Guardians_of_the_Rift page.

There is noted in the "rewards" section:

"Players also receive runecrafting exp equal to their runecrafting level * 45 provided at least one elemental or catalytic point is attained."

After testing this, I believe this should be:

"Players also receive runecrafting exp equal to their runecrafting level * 45 provided at least one elemental and one catalytic point is attained."

I saw on the front page that edits to pages can be made, but I tend to be carefull when editing due to not wishing to vandalize pages.

My questions:

1) Is there a guideline page or rule page for editing? 2) In the stated case above, would it be good to first have a discussion in the "discussion" section of the page I wish to edit to confirm or my proposed change is correct? Perhaps also to check the grammer?

All the best,

Chrissyboy  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 94.212.79.67 (talk) on 15:01, 08 November 2022 (UTC).

Hi there, and welcome to the wiki! There is a guide available on the RS3 wiki for getting started with editing, which you can find here - everything in that guide works for the Old School RuneScape wiki as well!
To answer your second question, you are always free to make any edit you want. There are always people looking at the recent changes to modify your edit where needed, and all edits can be reverted if you make a mistake, so you should feel free to just go ahead and edit. Especially in this case, if you've done your own testing, you are absolutely free to be bold and make the change!
If you'd like, you can also create an account on the wiki, which attributes the edit to you, rather than your IP address. It doesn't make a huge difference, but it can work as a first step to becoming part of the wiki in the longer term :) InvalidCards (talk) 15:09, 8 November 2022 (UTC)

Is there a list/category of attackable NPCs with drastically reduced combat XP?[edit source]

As per the subject - for example, the old random events like the river trolls in the enchanted valley and shades in the stronghold of security. I went looking for such a list, and was unable to find one.

So now I'm asking here, in the hopes that someone might be aware of one. If there isn't one, then is it possible to create one? It's useful for people who (like me right now lol) are trying to gain a very specific amount of XP in skills; although I'll admit there isn't any actually useful purpose to it. Mostly for non-essential reasons like wanting to stop 1XP away from lvl 99.

88fireclod (talk) 20:22, 10 November 2022 (UTC)

This is related to a mechanic called XP bonus; you can see, for example, that the Abyssal walker has -75%, for roughly 1 xp/damage instead of the usual 4, vs Nex's +152.5% for 10.1 xp/damage. There's nothing particularly special between a mob with a negative or a positive bonus in this statistic, so they're not categorized in any particular way. Your best bet is probably figuring out how to use the semantic search function to look for metadata within pages. I don't know how to use it myself, unfortunately, but I'm fairly sure it's the tool you want. --97.84.44.2 20:41, 10 November 2022 (UTC) AKA User:Questionable Prose Writer

Thank you, @Questionable Prose Writer:, and @Fjara:.
Unfortunately, it appears that there are only a handful of these NPCs, so I guess requesting the creation of a category wouldn't be appropriate.
The special search function was exactly what I needed though, so I really appreciate that.

What does your in-game quest log say for zogre flesh eaters currently? Are you sure you are unable to re-initiate the fight (or get to the area where it occurs) without getting a new key? Fjaratalk 02:06, 21 November 2022 (UTC)
