RuneTek is the game engine used for Old School RuneScape. RuneTek 3 is the engine currently used. The previous iteration, 2, was used in RuneScape Classic; the first RuneTek is not in use; RuneTek 4 was the HD update on what is now RS3; RuneTek 7 is currently being used by RS3.

Implemented a new engine feature to be used in future updates; made some tweaks to help resolve some uncommon technical issues.

  • The combat stance system has been overhauled to make players less likely to get put in a Defensive stance unexpectedly when switching weapons or autocasting spells.
  • The game engine team has been making adjustments following last week's rewrite of mouse-clicking. So far they've fixed the bug it introduced whereby the left-click 'Deposit' option on bank deposit boxes didn't work.

The game's click-interpretation system has been rewritten to try and improve its behaviour when clicking multiple items rapidly.

Routefinding calculations are now performed on the server, not the client. This especially improves the navigation for players trying to use melee against large monsters, as well as resolving numerous other navigation-related race conditions.
