The rune pouch is an item that can store 16,000 of three types of runes. Players can cast spells using the runes stored in the pouch, saving inventory space. Players cannot own more than one rune pouch. It can be taken to Entrana, since runes aren't prohibited by the monks.
Players can speak to the magic combat tutor in Lumbridge to toggle an option which allows runes to be placed directly into the rune pouch upon pickup, provided that there is a stack of that rune already in the pouch with enough space in it to hold all of them.
If a player dies while carrying a rune pouch in the Wilderness or in a PVP world, they will lose the rune pouch. If a player is killed by another player, neither player will receive the rune pouch. Since the death mechanics update on 22 May 2015, it is kept on death outside of PVP, along with any runes in it, despite what the current "Items lost on Death" menu claims.
Obtaining[edit | edit source]
Alternatively, it can be purchased at the Bounty Hunter Store for 1,200,000 points. Tier 1 mysterious emblems can be bought on the Grand Exchange, with each emblem giving 50,000 points. Since a minimum of 24 emblems are required to obtain at the points required, the rune pouch essentially costs 4,003,392 coins to purchase.
Changes[edit | edit source]
|17 August 2017 (update)||Players can now speak to the magic combat tutor to toggle whether they want runes on the ground to automatically be stored in the rune pouch or remain in the inventory when picked up.|
|15 November 2018 (update | poll)||Players can now buy a rune pouch from a Slayer master for 1,250 Slayer reward points.|
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- If a player attempts to store the rune pouch while the storage interface is open, the message "Don't be silly." appears in the chatbox.
