Rune scimitar detail.png

The rune scimitar is a scimitar requiring level 40 Attack to wield. It can be created with 2 runite bars at level 90 Smithing, or dropped by various monsters such as fire giants or mummies.

It is the second strongest scimitar available behind the Dragon scimitar, but the strongest scimitar in free-to-play. Furthermore, it is considered the strongest melee weapon in free-to-play because of its high attack speed.

There are multiple alternatives to the rune scimitar for members such as the rapier, brine sabre, and ancient staff. The rapier requires the Cabin Fever quest completed and is a stronger stab weapon. The brine sabre gives extra strength damage, and the ancient staff is a crush alternative with a higher strength bonus requiring completion of Desert Treasure.

Players can attach a Guthix, Saradomin or Zamorak ornament kit, obtained from beginner Treasure Trails, to create a Guthix, Saradomin and Zamorak rune scimitar, respectively. This only alters its appearance, and gives no stat enhancements. It can be dismantled, returning the scimitar and ornament kit.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • The rune scimitar matches the Adamant 2h sword's strength bonus, and is much faster, whilst having a marginally higher slash bonus.
