Enchanted sapphire bolts are mithril bolts tipped with enchanted sapphire. Sapphire bolts can be enchanted through the spell Enchant Crossbow Bolt (Sapphire) by a player with level 7 Magic. The spell enchants 10 sapphire bolts at a time.

Enchanted sapphire bolts have a chance of triggering the Clear Mind effect. This causes the target to lose prayer points calculated as 1/20th of the attacker's current Ranged stat, rounded down, and the attacker gains about half of them. For example, if the attacker has level 99 in Ranged, then the target loses 4 prayer points, and the attacker gains 2.

The chance of the special effect occurring is 5% in PvP and 25% in PvM. If the player has completed the Hard Kandarin Diary, there is a 10% increase of the likelihood that the special effect of an enchanted bolt will occur (a total chance of 5.5% or 27.5%). This effect is always active regardless if the headgear is equipped.
