Several Sarcophagi are found in the Jalsavrah Pyramid during the Pyramid Plunder minigame. Opening a closed sarcophagus gives strength experience and has a chance of awakening a mummy which will attack the player that searched the sarcophagus.

Opened sarcophagi can be searched, which will give an artefact which can be sold to Simon Templeton. The chance of successfully opening a sarcophagus is affected by the player's current strength level.

The chance of receiving a Pharaoh's sceptre scales depending on the room where it is situated, upon searching the sarcophagus regardless of if the player fails or succeeds the search.

Because most players in the Pyramid Plunder minigame are focused on thieving experience, and because the mummy is quite strong, these sarcophagi are rarely opened.

Before 30 August 2023, the player only had a chance of obtaining the sceptre if a Mummy did not spawn. This meant the effective rates of obtaining a sceptre were far lower than stated.

30 August 2023 (update)	The drop rate of the pharaoh's sceptre has been adjusted; previously, it was reduced once players reached the sixth room, and becoming four times rarer in the eighth room. Sarcophagi will now roll the sceptre if players fail to open them.
