The sinister key is used to open the sinister chest in the Yanille Agility dungeon. The sinister chest contains nine noted grimy herbs: 2 harralanders, 3 ranarr weeds, 1 irit leaf, 1 avantoe, 1 kwuarm, and 1 torstol. The sinister key is dropped by Salarin the twisted and the chaos fanatic and can also be looted from a magpie impling.
The value of the sinister key is linked to the value of the herbs contained in the sinister chest. Buying a key, opening the chest, and selling the grimy herbs from it currently produces a profit of 3,680.

Trivia[edit | edit source]
- If you were to clean and make all the herbs received into potions, each sinister key would give between 747 and 1345 Herblore experience, depending on which potions you decide to make.
- Sinister keys are a common method for early game ironmen to get torstols, which can be given to the Dr Jekyll random event in exchange for stamina potions—allowing them to build a rejuvenation pool in their player-owned house without having level 77 Herblore.
- Using sinister keys from Salarin the twisted was the only way to obtain torstols in RuneScape Classic, since Farming did not exist, and the only potion they were used in is Zamorak brew.
