|Released||18 April 2005 (Update)|
|Examine||Very mysterious looking...|
Notably, the stranger is capable of using the dragon dagger's special attack repeatedly, and more often than a player can. He may potentially land two special attacks in successive ticks - players unable to use Protect from Melee or have low-level armour should avoid him at all costs. He does not seem to be limited to a special attack bar like a player is, and his attack speed varies throughout the fight.
He has an unusual behaviour, in which where he will follow (but not attack) the player closest to him if he has lost sight of his target; this may also happen while he is in combat with the target player. However, he cannot be attacked by players not doing the Desert Treasure quest. Attempting to do so will yield a message, stating: "He has no interest in fighting you." Casting any form of magic on him will lead to a similar message to appear, which says: "He's not after you...".
When he appears, he says "You are not worthy holding that Diamond of Blood/Ice/Shadow/Smoke!"
If the player kills him, a chat window will pop up with them asking themselves "I wonder what that was all about?"
Spawn condition[edit | edit source]
The moment at which the stranger appears depends on when player first receive each diamond; the game will wait 5 to 10 minutes after the player receives a diamond and then will consider spawning him. However, the 5-10 mins is based on farming ticks; it is possible for the stranger to spawn right after a diamond is obtained, which can be dangerous as the player may be depleted of supplies. The more diamonds the player has, the greater the chance for him to appear.
If the game chooses not to on that occasion, he will not spawn at all for that diamond at any point in the future. He will not appear if players have already killed him, have no diamonds in their inventory, or are in a place where he shouldn't appear (such as the boss area of the quest).
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- During a Reddit AMA, the original developer for Desert Treasure claimed that the stranger was meant to foreshadow future things that he never got around to exploring and that the stranger was actually an assassin sent by Sir Tiffy to prevent the release of Azzanadra. Whether or not he was serious is unknown, as Sir Tiffy was not added to the game until over two months after Desert Treasure's release.

The stranger can then lose sight of his target, and just follow random people, harmlessly staring at them. It'd be easy to prevent, though so far we'd felt it's kinda amusing as it is."

He's a Temple Knight assassin dispatched personally by Sir Tiffy to prevent Azzanadras release - what WHAT??? http://i.imgur.com/2JrU4f6.gif”*
