Needing things twice or not[edit source]

Just did the quest and had to visit the water source cave twice. The second visit didn't require a rope, searching the winch made the old rope reappear, so I edited note in the article saying otherwise. 18:32, August 11, 2016 (UTC)

Just confirmed you do NOT need a second bravery potion for taking the 'long' route towards the end of the quest. --Resolute (talk) 23:24, 29 January 2019 (UTC)

Worst guide[edit source]

This might be the worst quest guide I've seen on the entire wiki - which is surprising, since it's a high profile quest. In many cases, it advises inefficient travel without explaining what needs to get done first. So, it's long, confusing, AND not very helpful. I think it should at least be re-edited to make clear 1) here's what needs to get done, then 2) here are a few ways you could do it. (Even the tele suggestions seem inefficient and like a major afterthought.) Final note along the lines of the other talk items - I just tele'd out with the blessed bowl full of pure water and it did not evaporate. --Okay Gatsby (talk) 02:07, 23 March 2019 (UTC)

I'm working on it as I go through the quest. Blade Sabre (talk) 20:34, 8 March 2020 (UTC)

I think I'm basically done. It was more work than I expected, haha. If anyone has any queries, I'll be keeping an eye on comments here. I took the long path, and there were some points about the short path I was unclear about (see section below). Blade Sabre (talk) 12:53, 12 March 2020 (UTC)

Gem puzzle for binding book[edit source]

There was a warning "Do not try to take the gem after you place it on the stalagmites otherwise it will be gone and you have to run back to bank/buy the new one. You will be also be required to lockpick the ancient gate again on your way back in." But there didn't appear to be any way to try to take it. When I searched stalagmites which already had gems on them, the gem briefly appeared again to show which one it was, then disappeared, but it still counted as being there for getting the book. Blade Sabre (talk) 20:38, 8 March 2020 (UTC)

The strategy of trying the gems at random until they fit works fine. But it would be nice to know the logic if anyone figured it out. There was a riddle about putting the gems in order. But there wasn't a single obvious order for either the gems or the stalagmites. Blade Sabre (talk) 12:08, 9 March 2020 (UTC)

Short path[edit source]

What do you actually do to kill Viyeldi? Presumably, pick up the hat to make him appear. Then, do you attack him with the dagger equipped? (I note that he has an attack option, and if you click to attack him before getting the dagger, he tells you that won't work.) Blade Sabre (talk) 23:14, 11 March 2020 (UTC)

In the final battle it currently says, "When Nezikchened spawns, he will say his dialogue and begin attacking you! You are immobile while he is speaking and can take heavy damage, so it is HIGHLY recommended to turn on Protect from Melee before replacing the totem to be safe. If you chose the short path, you will need to kill the three undead warriors you saw down in the dragon cave once again ... After each hero is killed, make sure that Protect from Melee is up as the interlude repeats, and Nezikchened will freely hit you four times on three occasions, which can deal a lot of damage if he gets lucky with his hits." This is unclear about when he attacks you. If it's between fights, this should say to make sure that Protect from Melee is up before striking the final blow on each hero. Also, if it's three occasions, between all the fights, and also at the start, that doesn't add up.

Also, "Low levels should note that if you kill the three undead warriors and then leave, you will not have to fight them again upon returning." - what about if you kill 1 or 2? Blade Sabre (talk) 23:41, 11 March 2020 (UTC)

Ironman magic logs[edit source]

If I haven't dropped a 0 or something, it takes about 7 hours for 50-75 woodcutting, or 5 hours for 50-72 (with stew, since ironmen might not have a dragon axe, right?). Alternatively, woodcutting+fletching is one of the best ways to make money as an ironman. The guide says it might take 4 hours to get the magic logs from yommi trees if you're unlucky. So is this a silly thing to do? Blade Sabre (talk) 13:12, 12 March 2020 (UTC)

Pushing boulders[edit source]

There are 3 boulders, any particular one that needs pushing, do all 3 need pushing, or will just pushing one, once, be sufficient? Gtrdhjuytt (talk) 14:01, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
