Skill subpages

Should we split the article into subpages for each skill, like how the Runescape Wiki had it previously? Bmanseven (talk) 00:00, March 30, 2014 (UTC)

I think we should split the article into subpages for each skill. Plus some of the guides are horrible. Normal logs are worth a decent amount and should never be sold to a general store. Quietus Xile (talk) 01:19, May 26, 2014 (UTC)

Summer pies

This method seems completely unavailable for usage.

Almost nobody buys/sells RAW summer pies. I tried buying 1 as a test for 10k! Nobody sold a single one.

perhaps if one cooked them and sold, but I haven't checked the profit for that.

This is definitely not a money making guide. Or at least a proper/finished one.  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Xmax (talk) on 02:12, 25 December 2015 (UTC).

Wild pies

Just as a warning this method does NOT work. Raw wild pies sell for around 8-9k making them in some cases a loss to make, just letting others know so they don't waste mils on getting cooking up for nothing. 17:43, February 5, 2016 (UTC)

Raw wild pies default price is 13k. However they only sell for 7.6k~9k. 09:21, March 13, 2016 (UTC) HowIdidYourNan

Tuna potato

How do you guys calculate how many tuna potatos you can do in an hour, because even with a bot its impossible to make this many (2000)??? I mean lets say it takes 200 sec to do invent, or even less 120, you cant make 666 000 in an hour, you'll make about 150k...  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk) on 05:26, 15 April 2016 (UTC).

Zeah sawmill

I'm guessing since the addition of the sawmill in the Woodcutting Guild this information is out of date. Anyone wanna calculate the new costs/profits using the Zeah sawmill? Should be better as no need for Willow logs or Rings of dueling. 05:51, June 30, 2016 (UTC)

The actively traded price of cooked anchovies is almost three times the listed price rn, making this a money losing activity. I tested this yesterday with catching and cooking the anchovies and got these results.

I fished at Draynor Bank for 30 minutes with 70 fishing:

140 Raw Anchovies

197 Raw Shrimps

14k Fishing xp/hr

40k Total Profit

I bought the plain pizzas at 717 gp each and sold the anchovy pizzas for between 1000 and 1008 gp each for a profit of about 285 gp per pizza. 21:59, March 19, 2017 (UTC)

Wrong herblore

THis is 100% wrong, check herblore skill guide. A super combat potion uses (4) super attack, strength, and defence potions, and you combine a torstol with the 3 already made potions (by itself, not in a vial of water) to make a super combat potion. Torstol potions are used to make zamorak brew, which as of 6/17/17 are 24.55gp per exp (you pay 5k and sell for 703gp, 4297gp loss for 175exp) whereas saradomin brews are 14.64gp per xp which is still very expensive, but 180exp per (best exp per potion made, besides the impractical weapon poison ++ which require spawn hopping for nightshades) 02:49, June 18, 2017 (UTC)Convalesce

How are you supposed to repeat the process if there's a buying limit for seeds? Sure, you could let them stock up, but that would me you would only get the 1700 seeds after 34 for hours (200 seeds every 4 hours). After 34 hours, you'd have to wait 34 hours again to repeat the process, just for 1700 seeds.  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Quikz24 (talk) on 05:16, 21 August 2017 (UTC).

New location to kill Red Dragons

This page needs to be updated with the new location of the Myth's Guild from Dragon Slayer 2. The basement in the guild has red dragons right under it and has the bank on the first floor (uk floor system). This increases gp per hour. Also, do not forget to add mythical cape to teleport to the guild right in front of the statue.  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 2604:6000:8502:E6F0:C411:1EB1:1B08:B49E (talk) on 19:08, January 10, 2018 (UTC).

Tuna potatoes

Regarding the tuna potato guide. It should be mention that you would most like need to make this mostly from scratch, as the items needed are barely ever sold. Tuna and corn on the high end sells 2000 a day meaning that step is pretty much void, same goes for chopped tuna, meaning the process actually becomes buy cooked tuna, bowls to start off with, potatos with butter and cooked sweetcorn. Merge the 15 separate "Sapling" entries, or move them to the "Recurring Methods" section?

Saplings currently take up fifteen separate entries on this page, that's an issue in itself, but my main problem is that it's not even a viable method. For example, Magic Seeds have a buy limit of 200, yet the guide assumes you can make 1700 Magic Saplings an hour, eight and a half times the buy limit. That would take, what, 34 hours to buy one hours' worth of supplies? It's just not viable.

They're an unsightly blight on a very popular page, it would be great if they could be dealt with.  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 2a02:c7d:7ea4:5c00:2da9:4f3d:1542:8929 (talk) on 11:56, 7 November 2018 (UTC).

Cutting mahogany logs

In regards to the money making method for Cutting mahogany logs it is a bit out dated. It shows that cutting the on ape atoll is the best method which is false. I don't have exact figures on how much more GP it is on fossil island, but it is better by far. You have three trees verus two on ape atoll ontop of having a bank that is just about visible from the spot your cutting at. Also the requirements are not as harsh as ape atoll. Less questing, teleporting and skills required except some kudos,an easy quest and 63 farming.  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk) on 06:47, 9 November 2018 (UTC).

Ever since ogressess were introduced they have been one of the best (if not the best) money making methods for f2p. Regarding torstol farming herb patch count.

Maybie we should add the 9th herb patch, the one in Harmony island? FRM (talk) 09:07, 22 January 2019 (UTC)

This guide is disgustingly inaccurate.

I seriously doubt anyone is going to kill mithril dragons for any purpose but tasks and diary, if they're even part of one, especially at "80+" stats. 20 kills an hour sounds like a joke, some acc with a dragon sword and anti dragon shield kind of slow dps. This is data from a 31 dragon task I completed 20 minutes ago. I (95 melee stats 80 pray, Hasta, Ddef, BCP, Vskirt, Ferocious gloves, Fcape, Slay helm, Tort, Bring(i), Dboots) finished the task in 39 minutes. Using a bonecrusher, I got 299k in drops, without crushing estimate 375k and far less gp/hr. I did not track my xp/hr, but I'm sure one of you can do that pretty easily. My inventory consisted of an alch rune pouch, games necklace, bonecrusher(necklace), 4 prayer potions, house tab, super combat(4), extended superantifire(4), and 20 sharks. Including the 5 sharks and both prayer mix doses, I used ~1 shark per kill. Trading Dboots for Guardian and Ferocious for Bgloves, 1 shark per kill is probably going to be the trend over 100+ kc. Repot both Supercombat and Superantifire every 5 minutes (antifire expires at 5), pray piety, protect mage, and preserve. I used minimal (20%) flicking. 6 prayer pots should allow for 100% piety uptime, 2 for decent flicking. Rune pouch was of minimal use, Id suggest only using it if full tank+DHlance, and even then I doubt it'd see much use aside from mage xp and + 100 gp profit per alch drop. for runelite kill tracker

I'll be checking this talk page a few times a day for questions about the experience I had, if I remember to.  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 2601:187:4580:1aa:a490:dc35:e5ce:533f (talk) on 05:31, 3 February 2019 (UTC).

With the new update, players receive multiple ash increased based on mining level, at 65 mining the ash received is 3.1 per harvest. Which renders as 3 nine times and on the tenth gives 4. This greatly increases the potential earning from mining ash, and, if it's turned into ultracompost increases profit further.  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 2607:fb90:fd6:14aa:d8b8:982d:2fe1:995 (talk) on 02:42, 22 February 2019 (UTC).

Kills per hour (Rune Dragons)

35 kills per hour is definitely lower than what most people are getting.

All 1 hour tests (so low sample size, but should give an idea of what is possible):

  • With 95 Att / 97 Str, Justiciar, Dragon Hunter Lance, Torture, Ferocious Gloves, Insulated Boots, Fire cape
  • Avernic Defender + Bandos Godsword Specs: 54 KPH
  • Avernic Defender: 53 KPH
  • Dragon Defender: 50 KPH
  • Dragonfire shield: 46 KPH

I suggest we change it to dragonfire shield + dragon hunter lance, with around 95 melees. This is probably around 45 KPH. Most common setup I see, and many people afk this. Yes, defenders are higher GP/hr even with the cost of super antifires, but unless you have runelite set to notify you on "your super antifire is about to expire", most people would rather just use the DFS. 35 is the lower bound of using a zamorakian hasta, and ~57 or so is the upper bound of BiS with 99 melees. So 45 seems like a good in between. -- 17:10, 18 July 2019 (UTC)

sinister key money maker guide completely wrong/ out of date

herbs are looted in note form. not only that, you can open the chest with a full inventory, allowing you to open 6 times, freeing 6 spaces to pick up the 6 noted herb types that dropped. you can do a steady rate of 400 keys/hr, up to 450 when focused. buying these keys at mid can usually land a 1m+ profit per hour.

And its not mentioned here, contrary to what ive been told many times by others: the serp does not use any scales to resist the poison. So with 75 defence (and 91 cmb to not agro the skeletons), highly recommend the free immunity the serp provides.

I really dont believe it is possible to make 700k an hour this way. Please Help.  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk) on 03:04, 20 August 2019 (UTC).

Demonic Gorillas: Kills per hour

60 Kills per hour is quite high at demonic gorillas, as it assumes around 90+ combats, use of arclight + bp, and a slayer task. This is inflating the listed gp/hr. I suggest we reduce it to about 45 KPH, which is what you could expect at around 85 combats and off-task without rigour/avernic. This should be more in line with the demographic.

My own testing, with 95 att / 98 str / 94 ranged. Using: Arclight, BP, fury, rigour, avernic, etc.

  • 4 hours testing on-task: 64.5 KPH
  • 2 hours off-task: 56 KPH
  • 2 hours off-task using Ghrazi rapier: 54 KPH

Although black demons are a long task, I feel that we should not expect players to have them as a task to kill them. 60 KPH is definitely too high for the average player to achieve, so either the recommended stats should be increased to 90+, or the KPH should be brought down. 19:24, 6 September 2019 (UTC)

Varrock Tele-Tab Rates

Assuming maxed house with decently placed lectern, the rate of tablet creation can equal approx. 900 or more per hour rather than the 750 displayed on the page. While 750 might be an accurate estimate for AFKing them, max profit and magic xp per hour runs will result in greater creation levels.Hercolanium (talk) 23:05, 6 September 2019 (UTC)

Missing the most profitable f2p money maker

A mmg for smithing rune 2hs needs to be made. This is tied with mining runite as the best free to play money maker which is about 600k gp an hour. LukeTheDank (talk) 21:52, 9 September 2019 (UTC)

Missing extended super antifire mmgs - 3m gp/hr

Assuming that the herblore training page is accurate, making super anti-fire potions at 92 herblore would profit about 1m an hour and making extended super anti-fire potions at 98 herblore would profit about 3,184,000 an hour. (This is from multiplying the xp per hour times the profit per xp.) LukeTheDank (talk) 17:58, 15 September 2019 (UTC)

How does one get through the underground pass quickly?

This guide seems to imply that you can quickly leave the underground pass, bank, and return. How do you get back to the area in the underground pass where you can fight the desciples of iban?  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk) on 23:22, 19 September 2019 (UTC).

this is not the place to ask. the underground pass is notoriously a pain in the butt to get through also you did not sign ur post and its a duplicate. git gud LukeTheDank (talk) 18:37, 21 September 2019 (UTC)

Yeah, first wiki Edit. I'm logged in now.

I wasn't asking for quest advice. There's a section of the money making guide that mentions farming Desciples of Iban in the Underground Pass. It specifically mentions completing the quest until just before the final room, and farming the Disciples there.

This money making method implies that it's possible to farm several inventories worth of these monks in a single hour, meaning there must be a way to return to that section of the Pass quickly. It doesn't mention that, though.

5400 steels bar in one hour

This is bullshit  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk) on 11:56, 26 September 2019 (UTC).

I've verified the rate (of steel bars specifically) on multiple occasions. The theoretical maximum is over 6000 bars/hr anyway, so I figured 5400 would be a reasonable sustained rate. -Towelcat (talk) 14:34, 26 September 2019 (UTC)

Superglass Make Output Incorrect

This guide somehow has an input of 7800 molten glass worth of supplies and outputs 10140 molten glass, giving a misleading profit of 641700gp/h. This skews the profit significantly. The profit should only be 279000 gp/h at current prices.  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk) on 02:03, 12 November 2019 (UTC).

Superglass Make produces 1.3 molten glass per pair of seaweed+sand, and between 1.3 and 1.6 with giant seaweed, depending on how many are used. The numbers on the MMG are a little on the low side at 10 ticks per cast, as peak efficiency is something like 7 or 8 per cast (roughly ~25-40% higher casts/hr). -Towelcat (talk) 05:03, 29 November 2019 (UTC)

Things I think should be added

As a F2P player my main money source is scavenging in the wilderness and I dont see a wiki about that It is a really important money making source for F2P players and I believe that it should be on this list. --Ya gotta guess who (talk) 17:09, 15 November 2019 (UTC)

Removal of sections

I think the Starting off, tips and tricks, and the trivia sections should be put back. Metallicanrana (talk) 21:21, 2 January 2020 (UTC)

I left my thoughts in the edit summary on tips&tricks + trivia the second time around, but I figure I should put them here as well.
  • Begging: I've seen people make millions while begging at the w301 GE. Standing around at the GE while flipping, picking up drop party loot, and begging is the *best* moneymaker for f2p accounts, but I'm not about to endorse it on the wiki. It's certainly not a "terrible" method.
  • Looting coins: Picking up all coins is a waste of time, as low level monsters drop them in very low quantities. The note about wearing a ring of wealth is valid, but it's probably better suited for a new player guide or a very brief mention towards the top of this page.
  • Selling to stores vs players vs GE: This was extremely dated. Players rarely trade with each other now due thanks to the GE. Additionally, there are a few cases where selling to certain stores is a decent moneymaker on its own (a direct counterexample), and could probably have its own page.
  • RS3 players: Feels out of place here. Better suited for a reddit post or something idk.
  • Trivia note: Read as if it was written by the one person that used to do that specific activity in 2014. Hardly a good moneymaker, and not really notable. Trivia sections are a can of worms anyway.
I imagine the majority of users going to this page are just here for the auto-generated table. The massive section on noobtrap-tier beginner methods is misleading and wastes a ton of space.
As for the methods at the end of the page:
  • Law/nat running: Doesn't exist anymore. Could *maybe* write a guide about astral/lava essence running but it's definitely not as beginner friendly.
  • Killing cyclopes: Should maybe be its own page, but where do we stop? Should we have a MMG on killing *every* monster in the game?
  • Treasure trails: Should have their own pages in the "recurring methods" section, as they're typically just one-off activities rather than a repeatable grind method (excluding jar opening, which already has its own guide).
  • Skele wyvern running: Should have its own page, assuming people still do this one.
  • Merchanting/flipping: Nebulous as hell. Maybe worth a small paragraph towards the top of the page.

Selling Team-29 Capes (100k gp/h)

You have to go in the Wilderness and search Simon. Most of the time he is right in front of the Chaos Temple. Simply buy Team-29 Capes off him (the blue ones) and go back to the Grand Exchange. There you can sell the capes for 300gp each and make a profit of about 7000gp. Repeat the method and you'll get approximatelly 100.000 gp per hour.  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Fazy (talk) on 18:39, 5 January 2020 (UTC).

Adamant smithing money making guide is wrong

The guide recipe assumes a basis of 2,700 adamantite ore, but then only has 8,100 coal, but it needs to be 16,200 coal to have enough for all the adamantite...thus reducing the profit by almost the whole thing lmao wtf how could this mistake happen without being caught lol  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk) on 04:56, 6 January 2020 (UTC).

Update needed for mining iron guide.

The iron mining money making has not been updated since the release of the mining guild expansion. I did an hour of mining iron inside the new members part and I got 1558 ore with a rune pickaxe, no Varrock armor, running out of run energy a couple times, and getting crashed for a few minutes before the other player left. This is a huge increase in ore/hour over the 950 in the existing guide. The method was simply to mine from the 3 patches in a triangle located close to the bank chest and then bank in the chest. Players using the Varrock armor with a higher agility level (mine is 34) or weight reducing gear should be able to break 1700 ore an hour, and of course even more than that with mining gloves and cape (though the method is rather pointless at that level). I don't know if it would be more appropriate to add it to the existing guide or make a new guide for mining iron in the mining guild (since it is a p2p method).

Herb Farming Times Not Consistent

Description includes many P2P mechanics

This money making method is listed as F2P, yet the description includes a quite a few mechanics that are members-only (looting bag, amulet of glory, and restore potions). I think if this is going to be listed as an F2P Money Making method, it should strictly use F2P mechanics and reflect the accurate profit margins when doing so.

Perhaps we could write up a separate paragraph on this same page that shows the true best F2P method and the respective expected profit? Would be easier than writing a whole new page for it.  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 2600:8800:4980:6b21:e1e7:b992:c870:f67f (talk) on 05:34, January 15, 2020 (UTC).

Shearing wool in Lumbridge

Recommended Skills: None

Items: Shears

Go to the fence where the Sheep and Rams are. Shear the sheep until your inventory is full. Bank the wool in the Lumbridge Castle. Do not spin the wool. Raw wool is more profitable then balls of wool. This method can get you around 10,000-30,000 GP per hour.
