Talk:Seaweed spore

This talk page is for discussing the Seaweed spore page.

Average yield by level[edit source]

Calculated results based on some tweets by Mod Ash. Seaweed patches have 3 "lives", and each tier of compost increases that value by its tier. The chance of NOT taking a life scales linearly from 59% to 82%, between levels 1 and 99. Magic secateurs have no effect. All of the numbers in this table were calculated via LIVES/(1-floor(150 + (LEVEL - 1) * 60 / 98)/256)

Do you by chance have links to the tweet(s) saying "59% to 82%"? Good job with this, anyway. --laagone talk 15:57, 12 October 2018 (UTC)

I did a similar calculation before realizing it was on this talk page. I did 100k tests per level and got almost the same numbers, however, our levels differ by 1, ie, the numbers are shifted up 1 row. (eg, my calcs show 33.23 @ 99, 32.89 @ 98, 32.52 @ 97, etc)

This was my python code-- perhaps you could share yours and I can see if I went wrong?

import random
trials = 100000
for lvl in range(23,100):
	p = ((0.23469387755102*lvl)+58.76530612244898)/100
	n = 0
	total = 0
	for n in range(0,trials):
		i = 0
		success = 0
		while i < 6:
			success += 1
			if random.random() > p:
				i += 1
		total += success
	print('average seaweed at level: ' + str(lvl) + ': ' + str(total/trials))

Also, to anyone else, can the table be moved to the main article?

I was a bit of a goober and forgot how easy it is to calculate the exact numbers when making that table. I've updated it with more accurate numbers, and included the formula used. (Previous table DID also have an off-by-1 mistake.) -Towelcat (talk) 23:54, 24 January 2019 (UTC)

Probable chance-to-save-a-life numbers[edit source]

Lvl 99: 210 / 256 = 82.03%
Lvl 1: 150 / 256 = 58.59%

Linear interp for other levels (and round down). M.secs don't apply, possible that Attas doesn't either when considering just how high that 99 rate is. Towelcat (talk) 04:47, 7 April 2019 (UTC)

Attas probably applies here. Just a simple 5% boost to the CTS number. Interp, floor, multiply by 1.05, floor, divide by 256. -Towelcat (talk) 19:25, 12 June 2019 (UTC)
