Strategy for fighting Typhor[edit source]
I recently did completed this quest with mid 70's melee stats and I found the suggested strategy against Typhor counterproductive. I went in with full Bandos and prayed melee, but rapidly took damage from the magic attack and had to tele out. When I came back I prayed mage the entire way through and barely took any damage from his melee attacks.
Based on my experience, I would suggest modifying the strategy to just pray magic the entire time. I'm only one data point so I don't want to change it myself.

- I just finished the quest with a similar experience. My melee combat stats are mid-high 60s, using an equipment setup with high melee defense and a slightly negative magic defense. I my first attempt on Typhor using Protect from Melee led me to abandon the fight before it fell below 50%, but my second attempt using Protect from Magic the entire time got the kill much more easily. The final encounter took a few attempts, and I was eventually successful using a Super Combat Potion (5 doses to compensate for not turning around a few times) and Prayer Potion (3 doses with Holy Wrench and 55 Prayer) rather than Super Restores.

I found using prot melee while wearing void with 73def best for me - this isn't to say void should be recommended (I used it due to limitations on my account), but rather that I saw no indicator that any prayer became more or less frequent given Typhor's health - in my case, the fight had 4 successive mage attacks at ~80% hp, then never more than 1 in a row after that. This is of course anecdotal though --2A00:23C5:DD0E:C400:C838:D3F5:D472:57D1 10:51, 7 July 2020 (UTC)
Having just completed the quest myself (75atk/75str/75def/84magic), the Prot. Magic Always strategy was clearly the correct call in my low-cost equipment (Barrows, Whip, etc.). Typhor could not hit through Protect at all, and Jormangund's magic attack seemed to have a max hit of around 5. I took video recordings of both fights and can make them available if needed, but there was no question in my mind that Protect from Melee would have been painful since I came with Melee equipment.
