|Released||4 May 2005 (Update)|
|Location||Chasm of Tears|
|Skills||All skills (see article)|
|Music||Tears of Guthix, The Power of Tears|
Tears of Guthix is a short minigame located in the Chasm of Tears, guarded by the serpent Juna, playable once a week (seven full days). It grants a reward of experience points in the player's lowest skill each time it is played.
To play this minigame, the player must have completed the Tears of Guthix quest and earned at least 100,000 total experience points or one quest point since they last played it, unless they have never played it before. Players may read the Tears of Guthix entry in their Quest Journal to find out how many days and how many quest points or experience points are needed before being allowed to play the minigame again. Players can speak to Juna to toggle whether or not to receive a chatbox message telling them they are eligible as soon as they become eligible.
Playing the game[edit | edit source]
After the player tells Juna a story, she will give the player a bowl which requires two free hands to wield and will allow the player into the area. In the area, the player must collect as many blue tears flowing from the walls as they can within the time limit, while avoiding the green tears, as they decrease the number of blue tears the player has collected. Each stream of tears within the minigame will remain for 9 seconds before the location of the stream of tears changes randomly. There are 9 total stream spawns in the area. The maximum number of each stream (blue, green, and blank) is 3 at one time. For example, if there are 3 green streams, 2 blanks, and 2 blues - you know the next blank stream spawn will be blue. Timing this correctly can allow you to predict the next colour and/or stay in the same spot which saves time.
The player's time limit depends on the number of quest points they have. The more quest points they have, the longer their time limit will be and thus the more potential tears they can collect. The player is granted one game tick of time inside of the cave for every quest point obtained. With 300 quest points, a theoretical maximum of 296 tears is possible.
Reward[edit | edit source]
When the time limit is up, the player will exit the minigame and drink from the tears they have collected, granting experience to their lowest skill based on the number of tears collected. The amount of experience per tear increases as the player's level increases. This is 10 experience per tear if their lowest level is 1 or 26.6 experience per tear if their lowest level is 20, capping at 60 experience per tear at level 30. Players will get 10% additional experience if they have completed the Lumbridge hard diary.
If the player has multiple skills at the same level, the reward will go to the skill with the least experience. If any skills share the same amount of experience, the first eligible skill in the following list will be given the experience: Cooking, Crafting, Firemaking, Fishing, Magic, Mining, Prayer, Ranged, Runecrafting, Smithing, Woodcutting, Agility, Herblore, Fletching, Thieving, Slayer, Attack, Defence, Strength, Hitpoints, Farming, Construction, and Hunter.
Experience earned from Tears of Guthix will not go towards the Construction, Herblore, or Runecraft skills until the player gains access to the skills by buying a house from an Estate agent, completing the Druidic Ritual quest, or completing the Rune Mysteries quest, respectively.

Players receive a message which indicates the skill they received experience for. Additionally, if the player has completed the Lumbridge hard diary, the player will also receive the message You are awarded an additional 10% experience for completing the hard Lumbridge achievement diary.
