The tome of fire is a book held in place of a shield that is a possible reward from a supply crate, which is obtained from subduing the Wintertodt. The tome of fire requires level 50 in Magic to wield.
The tome can be charged with burnt pages to act as a source of fire runes whilst equipped. Each page adds 20 charges to the tome. It can hold 1,000 pages and requires 3,210,000 to fully charge. Each charge costs 160.5. If a charge (1/20 or more) is consumed and the page is removed, the entire page will be consumed.
Casting fire spells with a charged tome equipped will increase the spell's damage by 50% (multiplicative bonus on top of magic damage bonus) and consume one charge. Casting a non-combat spell requiring fire runes will not consume any charges.
Even though Iban Blast, Flames of Zamorak, and smoke spells are combat spells that require fire runes to cast, they do not receive the 50% damage bonus, and do not consume any charges. If a charged Tome of Fire is equipped in addition to a fire staff of any kind, when casting a combat spell that requires fire runes, a charge from the book will be consumed instead of being negated by the staff. To avoid this, uncharge your Tome of Fire when using any fire type staff.

Trivia[edit | edit source]
- In the Old School Content Poll #46, the tome of fire was proposed to have dragonfire protection as well, similar to an anti-dragon shield. It only received 56.7% votes in favour, 18.3% short of passing the poll.
