Town Criers can be found in various cities across Gielinor. They ring their bells and announce information about the latest Old School RuneScape updates.
Historically, they used to provide players with information on Player Moderators, the Rules of Conduct, and handy tips. Player Moderators who spoke to a town crier could ask about more in-depth information about player moderators, including quick access to their guidelines.

The Town Crier's dialogue on Player Moderators, Rules of Conduct, and general tips have been removed.
|
- Historically, Town Criers informed players about Player Moderators and their role in the game, as well as showing players the Code of Conduct and giving general tips about the game. If spoken to as a Player Moderator, he will have different dialogue, showing P-Mod Guidelines, a P-Mod version of the Code of Conduct, and moderating tips.
- These pieces of dialogue were all removed in an update on 6 October 2020. According to Mod Ed, they were removed because they were heavily outdated, in addition to little to no players speaking to him. In addition, the Old School Team now preferred not to use in-game characters to explain out-of-universe concepts.
- According to the Varrock census in the library, the name of the Varrock town crier is Gryff Aldock.
- The Crier outfit is a player-ownable version of the outfit worn by town criers.
