Standard dialogue[edit | edit source]

  • Lumbridge Guide: Greetings, adventurer. I am Phileas, the Lumbridge Guide. I am here to give information and directions to new players. Is there anything I can help you with?
    • Where can I find a quest to go on?
      • Player: Where can I find a quest to go on?
      • Lumbridge Guide: I'm afraid I can't think of any more quests for you. Don't worry though, there'll be plenty more out there. You'll just need to find them.
      • The minimap in the top right corner of the screen has various icons to show different points of interest. Look for the icon to the left to find quest start points.
      • Lumbridge Guide: Is there anything else you need help with?
        • Yes please.
          • Player: Yes please.
            • (Shows initial options)
        • No thank you.
          • Player: No thank you.
          • (End of dialogue)
    • What monsters should I fight?
      • Player: What monsters should I fight?
      • Lumbridge Guide: You're strong enough to work out what monsters to fight for yourself now, but the combat tutors might help you with any questions you have about the skills; they're just over there to the south of the general store.
      • The minimap in the top right corner of the game screen has various icons showing the locations of things. This icon to the left shows where Combat tutors are.
        • (Shows initial options)
    • Where can I make money?
      • Player: Where can I make money?
      • Lumbridge Guide: There are many ways to make money in the game. I would suggest either killing monsters or doing a trade skill such as Smithing or Fishing.
      • Lumbridge Guide: Please don't try to get money by begging off other players. It will make you unpopular. Nobody likes a beggar. It is very irritating to have other players asking for your hard-earned cash.
        • Where can I smith?
          • Player: Where can I smith?
          • Lumbridge Guide: You already have a reasonable Smithing level, so I think you know that already.
          • (End of dialogue)
        • How do I fish?
          • Player: How do I fish?
          • Lumbridge Guide: I am confused. You are already an experienced fisher. You should know the answer to that already.
          • (End of dialogue)
        • What monsters should I fight?
          • (Same as above)
    • Where can I find more information?
      • Player: Where can I find more information?
      • (Useful links section of the account management tab interface opens.)
      • Lumbridge Guide: What you'll want is the OSRS Wiki! I've taken the liberty of opening the useful links section of the account management tab for you. Here you can find a link to the wiki. There's information and guides on almost
      • Lumbridge Guide: everything, all easily searched and it's even written and maintained by players.
      • Lumbridge Guide: Is there anything else you need help with?
        • Yes please.
          • Player: Yes please.
            • (Shows initial options)
        • No thank you.
          • Player: No thank you.
          • (End of dialogue)
    • More options...
      • I'd like to know more about security.
        • Player: I'd like to know more about security.
        • Lumbridge Guide: First I must warn you to take every precaution to keep your RuneScape password and PIN secure. The most important thing to remember is to never give your password to, or share your account with, anyone.
        • Lumbridge Guide: I can also tell you about password security, avoiding item scamming and in-game moderation. I can also tell you about a place called the Stronghold of Security, where you can learn more about account security and
        • Lumbridge Guide: have a bit of an adventure at the same time.
          • I'd like to know about password security.
            • Player: I'd like to know about password security.
            • Lumbridge Guide: Well, the first thing to remember with password security, which I can't stress enough, is to never tell your password, bank PIN or authenticator details to anyone, not even if they claim to be Jagex staff. Real
            • Lumbridge Guide: Jagex staff will NEVER ask for your password. Sharing your account is a very bad idea, even if you think that you know and trust the person you are sharing with. Players have lost items and even their
            • Lumbridge Guide: account this way. Sharing accounts is also against the rules.
            • Player: Is there anything else to be aware of?
            • Lumbridge Guide: Yes, also be careful where you enter your password. Be aware that fake Old School RuneScape websites exist. These are sites that claim to give things such as item/stat upgrades, free items, beta testing and
            • Lumbridge Guide: moderator applications. Jagex do not offer any of these services.
            • Lumbridge Guide: Also be aware of trojans and keyloggers. These nasty programs can send everything you type into your device back to the computers of malicious people, so you can lose more than just your Old School RuneScape
            • Lumbridge Guide: password in this way. To avoid getting these on your device, be very wary of what you download, especially when it comes to downloading third party software. Also be very wary of email attachments and instant
            • Lumbridge Guide: messenger file transfers, which can contain such things.
            • Lumbridge Guide: Finally, remember the game doesn't censor your password or bank PIN when you type them; anyone who tells you otherwise is probably trying to steal your character or items.
            • Lumbridge Guide: Is there anything else you need help with?
              • Tell me more about security.
                • Player: I'd like to know more about security.

                • Player: No thank you.

          • I'd like to know more about avoiding item scamming.
            • Player: I'd like to know more about avoiding item scamming.
            • Lumbridge Guide: There are many nice and helpful players in Old School RuneScape; unfortunately, as in real life, there are some who aren't so honest. Some people may try to trick you out of your items. Try not to fall for this as
            • Lumbridge Guide: Jagex policy is to never return lost items to players that have been scammed. Doing so just encourages users to claim they lost items they never had to gain an unfair advantage. However, people carrying out such
            • Lumbridge Guide: scams will get banned as it is against the rules.
            • Lumbridge Guide: When trading, you have a second trade confirmation screen. Always double check that you are getting the items you expect on this page as some people may try and change what they are trading at the last minute on
            • Lumbridge Guide: the first trade screen. Remember when you have clicked accept on the second trade screen, the trade is not reversible.
            • Lumbridge Guide: Try and find out from someone else what an item is before spending a lot of money on it. Not all merchants are honest about the rarity or the uses of their wares. For example, some people try to pass off spinach rolls as
            • Lumbridge Guide: rare when in fact they're as common as cabbages!
            • Lumbridge Guide: Be wary of people offering to improve your items. For example, some people will claim they can add a trim to your armour or upgrade your sword to a more powerful one. This is not possible and they are trying
            • Lumbridge Guide: to steal your hard-earned equipment.
            • Lumbridge Guide: Is there anything else you need help with?
              • Tell me more about security.
                • (Same as above)

                • Player: No thank you.
                • (End of dialogue)
          • I'd like to know more about in-game moderation.
            • Player: I'd like to know more about in-game moderation.
            • Lumbridge Guide: You will, from time to time, see moderator characters in game. Remember: a real staff member will never ask for your password or any other personal information. There are two types of moderator. You may see Jagex
            • Lumbridge Guide: staff characters in game - these can be identified by a gold crown next to their name and are the people who work in the Jagex offices. They might be from Customer Support, or they might be a tester or a
            • Lumbridge Guide: programmer. You may also see player moderators - these can be identified by a silver crown next to their name. Player moderators are trusted players of Old School RuneScape that help keep in-game behaviour in
            • Lumbridge Guide: line with the Old School RuneScape rules.
            • Player: How do I become a player moderator?
            • Lumbridge Guide: The only way to become a player moderator is to know and play by the rules laid down by Jagex. Report those who break the rules, help players who need it and one day you might find an invite to become a moderator in
            • Lumbridge Guide: your Old School RuneScape inbox. Note that Jagex will never contact you in game or by email to become a player moderator.
            • Lumbridge Guide: Is there anything else you need help with?
              • No, thank you.
                • Player: No thank you.
                • (End of dialogue)
              • Yes, please.
                • Player: Yes please.
                  • (Shows initial options)
              • Tell me more about security.
                • (Same as above)
              • I have more questions about player moderators.
                • Player: Tell me about Player Moderators.
                • Lumbridge Guide: Of course. What would you like to know?
                  • What is a Player Moderator?
                    • Player: What is a Player Moderator?
                    • Lumbridge Guide: Player Moderators are normal players of the game, just like you. However, since they have shown themselves to be trustworthy and active reporters, they have been invited by Jagex to monitor the game and
                    • Lumbridge Guide: take appropriate action when they see rule breaking. You can spot a Player Moderator in game by looking at the chat screen - when a Player Moderator speaks, a silver crown appears to the left of their name.
                    • Lumbridge Guide: Remember, if there's not silver crown there, they are not a Player Moderator!
                    • Player: Thanks!
                    • Lumbridge Guide: Is there anything else you'd like to know?
                      • Tell me about Player Moderators.
                        • (Same as above)
                      • Tell me about something else.
                        • Tell me about Player Moderators.
                          • (Same as above)
                        • Tell me about the Rules of Conduct.
                          • (Same as below)
                        • Can you give me a handy tip please?
                          • (Same as below)
                      • No thanks.
                        • Player: No thanks.
                        • (End of dialogue)
                  • What can Player Moderators do?
                    • Player: What can Player Moderators do?
                    • Lumbridge Guide: Player Moderators, or 'P-mods', have the ability to mute rule breakers and Jagex view their reports as a priority so that action is taken as quickly as possible. P- Mods also have access to the Player Moderator Centre.
                    • Lumbridge Guide: Within the Centre are tools to help them Moderate Old School RuneScape. These tools include dedicated forums, the Player Moderator Guidelines and the Player Moderator Code of Conduct.
                    • Player: Thanks!
                    • Lumbridge Guide: Is there anything else you'd like to know?
                      • Tell me about Player Moderators.
                        • (Same as above)
                      • Tell me about something else.

                      • No thanks.
                        • Player: No thanks.
                        • (End of dialogue)
                  • How do I become a Player Moderator?
                    • Player: How do I become a Player Moderator?
                    • Lumbridge Guide: Jagex picks players who spend their time and effort to help better the Old School RuneScape community. To increase your chances of becoming a Player Moderator:
                    • Lumbridge Guide: Keep your account secure! This is very important, as a player with poor security will never be a P-Mod. Read our Security Tips for more information.
                    • Lumbridge Guide: Play by the rules! The rules of Old School RuneScape are enforced for a reason, to make the game a fair and enjoyable environment for all.
                    • Lumbridge Guide: Report accurately! When Jagex consider an account for review they look for quality, not quantity. Ensure your reports are of a high quality by following the report guidelines.
                    • Lumbridge Guide: Be excellent to each other! Treat others as you would want to be treated yourself. Respect your fellow player.
                    • Player: Thanks!
                    • Lumbridge Guide: Is there anything else you'd like to know?
                      • Tell me about Player Moderators.
                        • (Same as above)
                      • Tell me about something else.
                        • (Same as above)
                      • No thanks.
                        • Player: No thanks.
                        • (End of dialogue)
                  • What can Player Moderators not do?
                    • Player: What can Player Moderators not do?
                    • Lumbridge Guide: P-Mods cannot ban your account - they can only report offences. Jagex then take action based on the evidence received. If you lose your password or get scammed by another player, P-Mods cannot help you
                    • Lumbridge Guide: get your account back. All they can do is recommend you to go to Customer Support. They cannot retrieve any items you may have lost and receive no free items from Jagex for helping moderate the game. They are
                    • Lumbridge Guide: players who give their efforts to help the community out of the goodness of their hearts! P-mods do not work for Jagex and so cannot make you a Moderator, or recommend other accounts to become moderators. If
                    • Lumbridge Guide: you wish to become a Moderator, please feel free to ask me how!
                    • Player: Thanks!
                    • Lumbridge Guide: Is there anything else you'd like to know?
                      • Tell me about Player Moderators.
                        • (Same as above)
                      • Tell me about something else.
                        • (Same as above)
                      • No thanks.
                        • Player: No thanks.
                        • (End of dialogue)
                  • Something else.
                    • Tell me about Player Moderators.

                    • Tell me about the Rules of Conduct.
                      • Player: Tell me about the Rules of Conduct.
                      • Lumbridge Guide: At once. Take a look at my book here...
                      • (Rules book interface interface opens.)
                      • Lumbridge guide opens a book for the player
                    • Can you give me a handy tip please?
                      • Player: Can you give me a handy tip please?
                      • A random handy tip will be selected every time this option is chosen:
                        • Lumbridge Guide: Never tell your password to anyone, not even your best friend!
                        • Lumbridge Guide: Did you know you burn food less often on the range in Lumbridge castle than other ranges?
                      • Lumbridge Guide: Is there anything else you'd like to know?
                        • Tell me about Player Moderators.
                          • (Same as above)
                        • Tell me about something else.
                          • (Same as above)
                        • No thanks.
                          • Player: No thanks.
                          • (End of dialogue)
          • I'd like to know about the Stronghold of Security.
            • Player: I'd like to know about the Stronghold of Security.
            • Lumbridge Guide: An exciting new discovery has been made in the Barbarian Village. Soon after they started mining in the middle of the village, one of the miners got caught in a cave.
            • Player: Sounds painful, did he fall on his head?
            • Lumbridge Guide: No, but it turned out that he had discovered a place unlike any other.
            • Player: How so?
            • Lumbridge Guide: Well an explorer went to look down there, it's full of new and exciting creatures and other surprises on top of that. It turns out this place can also help you to secure your account more effectively.
            • Player: Wow, that sounds good. Where can I find the explorer to learn more?
            • Lumbridge Guide: Sadly the explorer went missing and has not been found. However, here is some information to get you started on securing your account. You can find the Barbarian Village north of Falador and west of Varrock.
            • If the player doesn't have a security book yet:
              • Player receives security book.
              • The guide hands you a book.
              • (Continues below)

      • Where can I find a bank?
        • Player: Where can I find a bank?
        • Lumbridge Guide: You'll find a bank upstairs in Lumbridge Castle - go right to the top.
        • The minimap in the top right corner of the game screen has various icons showing the locations of things. This icon to the left shows where banks are.
        • Lumbridge Guide: Is there anything else you need help with?
          • Yes please.
            • Player: Yes please.

          • No thank you.
            • Player: No thank you.
            • (End of dialogue)
      • I don't need any help.
        • Player: No, I can find things myself thank you.

Contacting through NPC Contacts Random option[edit | edit source]

  • Player: Hello!
  • Lumbridge Guide: What, who's that?
  • Player: Hehe... ahem...
  • Player: This is the voice of your conscience! You've been a very naughty boy haven't you?
  • Lumbridge Guide: What? No I haven't!
  • Player: You know what I'm talking about! Don't lie!
  • Lumbridge Guide: Okay, okay! I'm sorry, I'll never do it again!
  • Player: If you do it again, you'll be in deep trouble.
  • (End of dialogue)

Treasure Trails[edit | edit source]

Hard[edit | edit source]

  • Player receives a puzzle box.
  • Lumbridge Guide: I'm supposed to be the local source of knowledge, but I cannot even solve this puzzle! Do me a favour and solve it for me.
  • The Lumbridge Guide has given you a puzzle box!
  • (End of dialogue)
