Tumeken's Shadow is a two-handed powered staff requiring 85 Magic to wield, and is only available as a rare drop from the Tombs of Amascut. Powered by the sun itself, the staff was created by the god Tumeken during the Kharidian–Zarosian War as a means to fight back against the invading force of the Zarosian Empire. It was also used to create Tumeken's Warden and Elidinis' Warden, two massive automata imbued with the divine essence of himself and his wife Elidinis.

The staff has a built-in magic spell that can be used regardless of the player's current spellbook. The spell gives no base experience, and grants the player 2 Magic experience per damage dealt. The staff cannot be used to autocast any other combat spells.

In addition, Tumeken's Shadow has a passive effect exclusive to its built-in spell in which the player's magic attack bonus and magic damage are multiplied by three from the player's worn equipment (four within the Tombs of Amascut); the magic damage increase from this is capped at a total of 100% Magic Strength. The passive effect is extremely powerful at all bosses, even those with high Magic levels and/or defence bonuses.

The spell cannot be used against other players in the Wilderness. The only way that the spell can be used against other players is during the Castle Wars, Soul Wars and TzHaar Fight Pit minigames, as well as the Clan Wars minigame if the clan leaders enable it, but the staff will not have its passive effect of triple boosts from worn equipment enabled.

Charging[edit | edit source]

In order to use the staff's magic spell, it must be charged with soul and chaos runes, holding up to 20,000 charges when fully charged. Each cast requires 2 soul rune and 5 chaos runes, costing 732 coins per cast.

Total cost per charge 732

The total cost to fully charge the staff with 40,000 soul and 100,000 chaos runes is 14,640,000. Assuming non-stop use, with one cast every 3 seconds equaling 1200 casts per hour, the shadow costs 878,400 per hour to use.

Players can uncharge the staff whenever and wherever they choose, getting all of their runes back.

Maximum hit[edit | edit source]

The maximum hit dealt by the staff is dependent on the player's current Magic level; the formula is as follows.

Note that any magic damage bonuses are applied after the base max hit is calculated.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Tumeken's Shadow was proposed as a replacement for the Tumeken's heka as the "standout reward" for the raid in a newspost on 13 May 2022, due to player feedback on the desire for a magic weapon that would "redefine Magic as a combat style just as the Scythe [of Vitur] and Twisted Bow did." It was then polled in the Tombs of Amascut Reward Changes poll with the caveat that the heka would be replaced with Tumeken's Shadow if it passed the poll; this came to pass with 90.9% support.
