  • the previous slings i suggested before nearly all required hide and sinew from a foe which required combat
  • meanwhile bows and knives that players can make require no combat
  • i wanted to make a new version of slings which requires no combat to make
  • players can harvest the required ingredients without combat by searching the game world, this makes the game more interactive and turns previously decorative things into useful items
  • nearly all of these do not require combat to make or get the items
  • sinew is no longer required for the slings to be made for the most part
  • some slings have new stackable items needed to make them, this is similar to how darts are generally made of stackable items or arrows are
  • irl bulrush leaves, bark, ferns, thistle, nettles and seaweed were used for cordage and making slings
  • as odd as it sounds, bark can depending on the type irl be used to make slings
  • the new options also allow players to make slings on the go when needed
  • these options all go up to 40 ranged for players
  • these new option no longer require sinew to be f2p or making snakeskin or yakhide f2p, all of these can be found and done in f2p with the exception of nettles, nettles are only used for ghosts ahoy for a minor thing, it shouldn't be an issue making them f2p and tradable, just make making nettle tea is p2p only and it is only used currently for one thing
  • the weaker types of slings can easily be made nearly everywhere and are stackable the parts needed to make them
  • i propose that these slings replace the previously suggested ones up to snake skin slings
  • past 30 ranged i would have the slings be made of dragon hide or animal hide
  • the idea of sally's slings store could still work in lumbridge and maybe also there could still be a sling shop in karamjama
  • the foes i suggested that drop slings could still drop the natural cordage slings instead of the different weaker hide ones
  • no natural cordage slings have a special attack
  • nearly all these slings can be made on the field making it perfect for ultimate ironmen
  • for new players you could have it that goblins, man, woman, farmers and muggers have a very high chance of dropping slings up to bark cord, it could even be a tertiary in addition to the drop of bones and the second drop they have
  • perhaps goblins could have a very high chance of dropping the basic wool sling in addition to bones and other drops
  • this also lets snake skin and yak hair remain p2p
  • the different harvested plants could work like flax, it gives some of the plant then it vanishes for a time

rl Proof of making cordage and string[edit | edit source]

Creation[edit | edit source]

  • wool slings can be made with 1 ball of wool by clicking a new option on them called braid at level 1 craft/fletch, requires 1 range to use
  • braided wool slings can be made at 3 craft/fletch with 1 ball of wool by clicking a new option on them called braid, requires 1 range to use, there is a chance based off craft/fletch you ruin it and must try again with new wool
  • sinew slings can be at 4 craft/fletch, requires 2 parts of sinew to be used on each other, requires 5 range to use, p2p only, gives more xp then bulrush slings when made
  • yak hair slings can be made at 6 craft/fletch, requires 2 yak hair to make by using them on each other, requires 5 range to use, one idea so combat or Contraband yak produce is no longer required to get yak hair is players can now shear yaks like they do with sheep, p2p only, gives more xp then bulrush slings when made
  • Bulrush slings are made from the different bulrushes found in the game, there now is a new pick leaves option on them, players get bulrush leaves which are stackable, players right click the leaves which have an option called braid, players use 6 bulrush leaves to make a rush sling, this requires 6 craft/fletch and requires 5 ranged to use, players do not need to take this to a spinning wheel to make the rush sling, however when making a bulrush sling, there is a chance based off craft/fletch skill that you ruin the items and must try again with new bulrush leaves
  • Bark cord slings are made from either dead trees that can or can't be cut down, tropical trees that can or can not be cut down including palm trees, trees that say they are home to many unusual creatures, the twisted trees in the wilderness where ents are and the trees in lumbridge swamp that are not able to be cut down and that say An unusual tree grows here when examined, the trees now have a right click option called peel bark, players get a stackable item called peeled tree bark, players need 6 pieces of peeled tree bark to make a bark cord sling, a right click option appears on peeled tree bark called braid which makes a bark cord sling, this requires 12 craft/fletch to make and 10 ranged to use, no spinning wheel is required, there is a chance based off craft/fletch skill when you braid the bark that you ruin the items and must try again with new peeled tree bark
  • Fern cord slings are made from the various fern plants found across the game that are decorative and have no use currently, players pick them like flax and get harvested fern which is stackable and has a option on it called braid which requires 20 crafting, players then use 6 harvested fern and braid them together which requires 22 craft/fletch to make a fern cord sling which requires 20 ranged to use, there is a chance based off craft/fletch level that you mess up the braiding and must get new harvested fern to try again
  • thistle cord slings can be made at 32 craft/fletch and used at 30 ranged, to make players must pick thistles(they should wear gloves or else they take 1-3 damage, though they still get the thistle) they then take the picked thistle which is not stackable to a spinning wheel to spin into thistle cordage which requires 30 craft to make, then they take 2 thistle cordage and use them on each other to make a thistle cord sling. thistle cordage is not stackable
  • nettle cord slings can be made at 42 craft/fletch and used at 40 ranged, to make players must pick nettles(they should wear gloves or else they take 1-3 damage, though they still get the nettles) they then take the nettles which is not stackable to a spinning wheel to spin into nettle cordage which requires 40 craft to make, then they take 2 nettle cordage and use them on each other to make a nettle sling, nettle cordage is not stackable, players can also attempt on the field to ret the nettles which have now a option called ret, when done(you must wear gloves to do this or take 1-3 damage and fail to do anything) the player attempts to get the fibres out of the nettles without a spinning wheel to get nettle cordage, however when doing this there is a high chance you ruin the nettles and must try again with new nettles, this does not require 40 crafting but has the higher loss chance, higher skill lowers this chance
  • seaweed slings can be made at 42 craft/fletch and used at 40 ranged, to make players must gather 2 regular pieces of seaweed, then use them on each other to make a seaweed sling. Now what's so useful about this sling? This weapon is able to hurt Lobstrosities, now range has a way to hurt them, before only certain melee and magic item could hurt them, now ranged can do it, additionally if smooth rocks are used with the seaweed sling, they have the strength of steel round bullets, players can swim while holding the seaweed sling like they can with tridents

Extra[edit | edit source]

  • these slings made from natural plants or hair or sinew could have an unique perk to them, in d&d slings weigh nothing so what if these slings weighed nothing due to the very light material they are made of
  • this makes their ideal for new players or players traveling light and wanting to save run energy, this also applies to the gold wool sling, additionally the seaweed sling would be great for going underwater if it has no weight
  • slings made with the hide of a creature would have some weight, albeit very low weight like less then 0.8 kg for the most part
  • this allows snake skin to remain p2p as there's a sling for p2p players at 30 ranged instead now
  • slings could also reuse the crazy animation on the yo-yo item when used in battle, irl some slingers used slings in a very similar way as the animation shows when using the crazy animation
  • this could be a different idea rather then the bullroarer animation

  • snake skin slings are p2p only now
  • the snake skin and dragon hide slings would be better then the natural cordage slings i have suggested but hide slings require combat to get the parts needed
  • the hide slings could instead require 2 nettle cordage along with the hide to make them or they could use sinew
  • green d hide slings could still be f2p as a nice reward for players to go with doing dragon slayer
  • one issue with the previous hide slings was you only get 1 sling per hide, instead what if you could take a knife to the prepared hide and you get 3 hide pieces which can be used with nettle cordage to make 3 slings of that type, ideal for more pricey dragon hide, you can't do anything else with hide pieces other then sling making

New ammo[edit | edit source]

  • adding this as a bonus

vile rocks

  • Vile Rocks are found by searching the water in any sewer location in the game, varrock, Draynor and Ardougne and as uncommon drops from rockslugs and giant rockslugs
  • these rocks are the same stat and mechanic wise as smooth rocks for the most part
  • however because of the location and nature where they were found they are altered and very disgusting
  • when using vile rocks on foes that are not vampyres or vyrewatch, they have a chance to lower a random combat stat by 5% for a time, this does not stack but multiple stats can be hit not just one
  • This is due to the fact that the rocks would be covered and swarming with filth and disease, making it similar to the disease effect in game
  • players can search sewer pipes with an examine or certain fishing spots in the sewers for the rocks
  • however when doing so there is a small chance you have a random combat stat lowered by 5% for a time, wearing gloves lowers but doesn't negate the chance, multiple stats can be affected but not more then once, it just resets it loss by 5%
  • this also helps with training against the monsters in varrock sewers
  • gaining them from rockslugs is one way to get them without risking lowered stats

salt rock

  • salt rock is a special type of ammo sold by slayer masters
  • it has the same stats as rough stones for most foes and is always lost on use, however when used on the foes listed it has the strength of adamant round bullets, it is still lost on use though
  • salt rock can harm and kill rock slugs and giant ones as if the player used a bag of salt on them, additionally if used on them it can lower their strength and defense by 5% for a time, this saves needing a bag of salt
  • https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Snail all snail types are harmed the same as rockslugs are and can have their ranged and defense lowered for a time as well
  • leeches, abyssal leeches, Bloodworms and frogs of all kinds are affected by salt rocks as if they were slugs
  • an extra idea is when used on slugs, snails, leeches, frogs or worms there's a chance when you deal a max hit with salt rocks it stuns them for a time
  • irl slugs, snails, frogs, leeches and worms hate salt and it can easily kill them
  • Slug Prince can now be hurt by salt rocks, before only melee could hurt him, it acts the same as with slugs and snails
  • waterfiends, water elementals are also affected by salt rocks, when used it can lower their defense by 10% for a time (ideal is the salt dries them out or wrecks their form) but doesn't stun them
  • if used on ice warriors, ice giants, ice fiends, it can lower their strength and defense by 5% for a time, based off how irl salt melts ice
  • brine rats also have a high chance of dropping between 3-20 salt rocks

sluggy rocks

  • sluggy rocks are a new type of ammo only dropped from rockslugs and giant rockslugs in amounts of 5-45 as an always dropped item
  • they have the same stats as mithril round bullets and are lost 15% of the time on use
  • sluggy rocks when used in pvp drain the target's run energy by 10-25% based off your ranged skill,
  • alternatively the target has run energy equal to the damage dealt drained
  • note that the attacking player does not get the run energy, they just drain it
  • additionally when you deal a max hit that does at least 6 damage, the target's agility is randomly lowered by 1-4 for a time
  • sluggy rocks are also good for slayer
  • when fighting Zygomites and ancient ones, moss giants, Bryophyta, Growthlings, sluggy rocks can lower their defense by 15% for a time, based off how slugs irl eat mushrooms and plants, they can also be used in place of fungicide
  • sluggy rocks can also harm Kurask, king kurask and Turoth and finish off Gargoyles, Marble gargoyle and Grotesque Guardians as if you used a thrown rockhammer, all foes mentioned can suffer from defense lowered by 5% for time
  • this would give rockslugs more use as currently they are unpopular to train on
