  • these crossbows are made completely of wood, no metal arms on these, instead the limbs and stock are all wood
  • irl some crossbows were made of wood only with no metal parts, google shows this easily
  • the current metal limb crossbows in osrs are similar to the rl crossbow known as arbalest as is the ballista
  • these wood crossbows are weaker then the bow or metal crossbows, However they have lower requirements to use and can be used one handed with a shield or offhand item
  • making and attaching wood limbs to the wood stock requires far less fletching levels then attaching metal limbs does so these wood cbows are easier to make then metal crossbows are
  • they would have a attack range of 6 regular and 8 long distance or maybe 5 regular, 7 long distance
  • their speed is the same as metal crossbows, 3.6 regular, 3.0 rapid or maybe it could be the same as longbow but the drawback is it is weaker then metal crossbows and bows even though it is faster
  • these have lower requirements then metal crossbows to create but give less xp
  • to make them you need a stock as usual and a new item called wood limbs made from the correct type of log, i.e. to make an oak crossbow you need oak stock and oak limbs which are made from one oak log
  • to string them you can use sinew as usual or roots
  • f2p would ideally be able to use these instead of metal ones, these are much weaker but shouldn't be op and allows them to use cbows in a sense, they can also now use a ranged weapon against elvarg with the antidragon fire shield
  • F2p could be able to buy these crossbows up to yew from a new shop in either edgeville, falador or maybe even the bandit camp in the wilderness or Brian's Archery Supplies
  • these wood crossbows can only use light bolts as described below, attempting to use any other bolt gives a message saying that bolt type is unsuitable for the crossbow, they are too weak and different to use other bolts
  • Crude wood and sturdy wood crossbows are both made from regular logs but are of different quality creation(this is also to save the issue of where teak and mahogany would fit in particularly in f2p)
  • crude and sturdy crossbows would be a fairly common drop from goblins, guards, thieves, skeletons, zombies and thugs
  • magic and redwood crossbows could share the specials that either magic shortbows or magic longbows have.

Required ranged level to wield them

  • Crude wood 1
  • Sturdy wood 5
  • oak 10
  • willow 20
  • maple 30
  • yew 40
  • magic 50
  • redwood 60

  • These bolts are weaker then the regular version, they have a much more narrow shape then regular ones
  • unlike the regular version, they can not be enchanted with gem tips, they can be poisoned though
  • they have the same requirements as the regular version to smith and feather but you get 15 light bolts but half the usual xp the regular bolts give and instead of 10 bolts
  • they can only be used with wood type crossbows, though maybe it would be fine if other crossbows can use them
  • the new proposed shop or shops would also sell all types up to adamant light bolts
  • the champion's guild would sell rune light bolts to players (ideal for f2p and a nice reward for doing dragon slayer)
  • any enemies that drop the regular bolts will also drop light bolts
  • Light black bolts are dropped from black knights, black dragons, dwarves, ninja implings, chaos dwarves, thieves, black demons and night beasts in various amounts
  • rusty bolts are a new very weak but common bolt type, these are old, worn down, battered, rusted bolts
  • players can use these as usual for ammo but if they try to repair them like you do with broken arrows, it can give a light bolt up to steel, there is a chance when trying to repair them that they will break beyond repair, f2p can repair them on doric's whetstone so they can make use of them
  • when repaired it gives a very small amount of either fletching xp or smithing xp since they are stackable
  • If using rusty bolts as ammo they will always break on use not just have a 20% chance of being lost
  • goblins, skeletons, zombies, muggers, farmers, thieves, highwayman and pirates drop rusty bolts frequently and in high amounts(25-300), players can also find them randomly while big net fishing, in the dig site or in Fishing Trawler
  • silver light bolts are weak but can be used to hurt vampyre foes like regular silver bolts
