Burnt items are in a category of items which includes, but is not limited to, burnt foods. Burnt items share the quality of G.E.N.T's in that they are Grand Exchange Non-Tradeables within the game, which can only be traded through direct player-to-player methods. While most burnt items are food items created as a result of the Cooking skill, this is not always the case. In a broad sense, burnt items are any botched items resulting from skills such as Cooking, but also include failures in Crafting (crushed gems, etc.), and the item "rotten food".

Burnt items must also have the following apply:

  • Rates for producing burnt items should typically drop off with higher levels in the respective skill.

  • Burnt items do not require a "burnt" prefix, but must be ruined forms of food/items.

  • For the sake of this article, the items must be tradeable via direct player-to-player trade, but not on the Grand Exchange. (see burnt food for a complete list of even untradeable burnt food items)

  • These items must also be bankable, although an ultimate iron man could conceivably own the items as an uncommon exception.

Any other item not tradeable on the Grand Exchange which does not fit all the requirements of burnt items, including resulting from a skill-related item, would be classified as a G.E.N.T. (see the main article for more requirements on these items). Below is a comprehensive list containing requirements of both the traditional burnt food items and those inedible from other skills:
